Very interesting. It sounds largely as expected, all the recent Garmin features and tech bundled into a multisport-specific device. Nothing particularly revolutionary.

Absolutely no mention of Connect IQ support though, it'll be interesting to see if they make any announcements as to whether they're planning to add support for that down the road. I'm no tech guru, but to my simple mind it seems as though that kind of platform is going to be quite a technological leap, which will require greater processing power, memory and storage requirements than the current generation of Garmin devices offer. I'd be surprised if we see it implemented on the 620/920xt.

it seems like it is possible to still use the standard Garmin HRM. Are the benefits of the HRM-Run big enough to justify buying that as well? I'm considering using the Garmin HRM I'm currently using and backing that up with a Mio Link. Will miss some features, but don't know if they will be important to me. Decisions, decisions...

HRM-Run will give you vertical oscillation and ground contact time. If nothing else, helpful for when you are coming back from injury. I remember the 910XT was available pretty much immediately in bike/tri stores. Has anybody been to a store? Do they also have a 3-5 week processing time?

I notice a difference in the part number for the US and UK versions. Anyone know what the difference would be?

US, part number 010-01174-00: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/into-sports/running/forerunner-920xt/prod137024.html
UK, part number 010-01174-10: https://buy.garmin.com/...20xt/prod137024.html

Found a norwegian press release, saying that Connect IQ will be supported in a firmware upgrade in "early 2015".

That's good news.

Just checked the comments on Ray's article about Connect IQ and he seems fairly adamant that the 620 won't be getting it, so quite a big plus in the 920XT column!

Available 4th quarter 2014 - According to the UK site - 4th quarter started today, so I expect they're taking orders.

Well, I know what I'll be doing at work this morning...a little light reading.

I wonder how the buttons will hold up being pressed under water? Weren't the 910xt buttons more "sealed" than these appear to be?

That screen could have been so much bigger without all that "dead space" around it...

As someone relatively new to triathlons I can't justify the price, despite my geeky love of data. It seems like there are bigger gains to be had from putting $500 towards a bike, helmet, wheels, etc.

I assume you guys have seen new Garmin releases in the past... any idea what this will do to pricing on the 910, new and used?

If you're new then just train, train and train some more before you worry about any metrics.

I'd go with boring. Was hoping for optical heart rate capability. This is just a lot of money for a color screen and a bunch of metrics that I wouldn't even know what to do with.

While it seems cool, I just can't justify spending $500 on a watch. I'll stick to my shitty and cheap Timex Global Trainer and use that money to get a power meter or better indoor trainer.

If you're watching pennies, the garmin 310xt is the most profound value there is out there.

Does everything but the indoor swimming and costs $150.

Yes. $449 w/o HRM, $499 with the HRM Run

Still really expensive. $50 more than the 910 when it came out.

I'm guessing used 910s will be hitting the market soon for a similar price as I might be selling mine to upgrade as the live tracking and better battery life has me intrigued.

What makes you think its a typo? They can sell it for whatever price they want if they think people will buy it. Perhaps they anticipate the short supply in the first few weeks and have a price that matches that demand. Maybe it includes the fancy new "smart" HRM.
