Just got done with my order. Thankfully my local dealer, SBR, is getting 60 SCs for their first shipment in mid June (apparently one of the largest orders in the country) and decided to make some of those project one builds. I opted for the 9.5 in white/red/black (a pre ordered project one) with an ultegra build that I'll be swapping my 2010 Force group over to (let me know if anyones interested in a brand new Ultegra 6700 group!). Also, I was told that the only difference for the WSD version of the speed concept is the seat and the width of the basebars (EDIT: this is apparently not true. Both have the same width basebar. So does anyone know the difference apart from the seat?). So if anyones digging those colors you could opt for a WSD build. Geo is the same.

Anyone else have their order in? And if so, what color/build did you opt for?

Awesome! Im heading to the LBS this evening and hope to order the 9.9 in white/grey/red. ive always wanted an all white bike, but those colors really pop. hoping to go all in with sram red. post final details after order! being in wisco, im hoping it gets here fast!

What size are you looking for? I believe The Trek Store at Highland Park just got 9.9 large and a 9.9 small in.

I just ordered a Speed Concept 9.9 with Dura Ace instead of Red. Delivery times are 50-60 days quoted from my LBS. This is in Sacramento, CA.

If you're happy with your fit on the Caliente, I might steer you towards the medium SC. The stack and reach (at the frame level) are almost identical (514-407 on the QR, 517-408 on the SC). Your armpad coordinates will go a long way towards dialling in the frame and stem combo, as that's how the fit chart is set up.

This is my first TT bike that I have ordered (9.9 SC). My LBS recommended the XL frame based off my riding a 60cm Madone 5.5. I am 6'3". Is the XL the correct recommendation, or would a L be the appropriate size? Thanks so much.

So, If I am not currently comfortable on my current TT bike how would I go about getting the right measurements to pick a size. I am really comfy on my roadie but how does that compare? Any ideas?

You're in an interesting fit range, based on my experience with this bike and some tall testriders. Your LBS is probably right, but the choice between L & XL very much comes down to where your armpads are...assuming saddle height hasn't already ruled out the L (~841mm max, assuming a low-profile saddle @ 40mm from rails to top).

Thanks for the feedback. Whats the pros/cons with going with an XL instead of an L? And, given the LBS told me 50-60 days (according to Dexter), is that accurate for a P1 9.9SC with DA?

Well, as I'm fresh off my 2nd trip to FIST camp, I feel compelled to say you would benefit the most from seeing a good tri fitter. At the very least, a visit to an LBS you trust might be well worth it just to talk to someone in person and perhaps make some adjustments to what you've got in an effort to at least get closer to comfy before pulling out the tape measure.

I would drop your bike shop like a bad habit; you're buying a VERY expensive bike, and they picked your size BASED ON WHAT YOU ARE CURRENTLY RIDING. They didn't say "hey, this guy is spending a crapload of money, let's make sure he's happy and DO A TRI FIT FIRST".... that worries the heck out of me.

I'd listen to Carl, being both a Trek employee and familiar with actual tri fitting.

And seriously, if possible, try to order that bike from a different shop. That is such lazy BS crap from your LBS.

Your LBS knows no more or less than I do as regards availability of specific models, so I'm afraid I can't help you there.


As for L vs XL, I think the advantages of a proper fit trump everything else. If it truly does come down to a wash size-wise (which would surprise me...the fit chart converges on solutions pretty quick), Slowman's "more frame/less stem" mantra of late could still apply to the SC, though we did put considerable effort into designing the stems for aero-cleanliness across the range.

Can someone direct me to a good place to get fit in the South Bay Area (San Jose area)? Most of the shops I have visited that are TREK dealers don't seem to know much about TRI bike fitting. I want to order a P1 SC, but I would like to know my size and specs before ordering.

Carl, when will we see pricing info on the frame only setup? Which I would assume would be frame, fork, stem, bars and brakes.

X2...everyone in this thread likes the bike and is super happy about getting one.

Biggest diff from the prototypes? The stem looks different maybe...well all that it does is make it easier to adjust so it can git any and everyone, that doesn't sound bad to me...
