Since you're using VirtualPower, for any change you make to the resistance setting on the resistance lever you'll need to make in the VirtualPower selection within the TrainerRoad app as well.
I believe there are 10 settings, but I'm not familiar enough with the trainer to provide a recommended resistance setting. I suggest playing around in a Free Ride workout to see which resistance selection you'll feel most comfortable with for the FTP assessment.
