He's the guy to beat now. He can (an will) sit all day on someone's wheel and hammer on the run. I think TO will try to surge hard on the bike like back in 2014 (or 13) and try to hang on the run. Lange, however, is with Kienle. Very interesting but this is looking like the race for Gomez so far.

If 5th wheel doesn't move up and past there is no way he is anywhere near out the draft zone.. is it meant to be12m in Kona?

Where’s Lionel?

6:20 down from the leaders. 3minutes behind Kienle. Not a good start for him.

Looks look Lionel just missed the feet of the group ahead of them and then had to deal with breaking the water himself

Sanders has a decision to make.... go balls out to catch or go into TT mode in order to get the fastest possible bike-run time he can possibly get, and hope it's enough.

Who are his allies behind?

I wouldn't count him out just yet... he could make up the 3min to Sebbie and then sit in the rest of the bike to recharge for the run. But either way, this looks really good for the likes of Gomez and McNamee

From the helicopter "shots", whoever was 4th/5th wheel looked to be the "closest" to each other within the "draft zone".

Perhaps there's some sort of wiggle room in officiating when climbing? (Unofficially speaking, of course)

Who just moved into 4th? Big time drafting violation as he pulled in behind third.

Did they just say officials were told it is too dangerous to give penalties in this part of the course? WTF?

This will show how mature of an athlete he is now. Will he "race" his race and know he's strong enough and hten have some on the run, or will he "freak out"......

i suspect starky sticks his nose in the front of this race before wurf or kienle gets to the front group. who thinks wurf is going to catch starky before the finish?

They said it's too dangerous to give penalties at the moment so any penalties should be given after they get out of town... So in theory any cards should still be issued

They meant that they just don’t give the actual card during the section, but if someone is drafting they will get their blue card on the queen k.

The mens spacing looks fine to me, when you see the ground shots, and they are not going uphill. Jesse you guys, let them get onto the real course before dinging every little uphill bunch...
