Wow - just got in to town to see our first XS. Unbelievable. If you are 5'6" or below this bike is for you - but only if you want a rocket ship. No rear storage but dual info-crank power meter standard. Standard Continental GP 4000 II 650 tires in 23 mm. 155 crank arm legs. Ceramic BB, optimized chain, Ultegra DI-2 R8000, 88 mm front wheel and disc or 88 rear.

I can't wait to finish the build tomorrow. 10 minutes :-)

I know not everyone cares about a bike that fits shorter athletes. But if you are 5' 6" or shorter you have probably never know what its like to ride a bike that actually fits you, has proper geometry, a bike that handles right, a super bike that is fast and adjustable.

That head junction!

The photo makes it look like it's squeezed over too-big wheels. Knowing it has 650c, it must be ridiculously low in person.

I just changed the specifications and price on the Tactical 2.0 - effective 1 October 2018.

Right now we don't have any more XS in stock but we have 6 Small, 2 Medium and 1 large. We will have another shipment of bikes arriving in 30 days.

Many athletes have asked for the bike without the left side power meter included and without the hard travel case. We can alway add them back in and price the package accordingly.

The XS still has the dual InfoCrank Power Meter so it will be sold at $5,995.00 moving forward.

The new wheels are fantastic, same great tires, same optimized chain, DI-2, sponsored athlete program, (new Sella Italia Iron Seat), tilt kit etc...$5,690.00 for the fastest bike on the road. (I know P5X beat us by 3 watts in the wind tunnel but we don't race in the wind tunnel - our chain is worth 5 watts).

HI Dan, I have a question on the optimized chain. I thought I had seen either videos or other posts somewhere with how to prepare it for installation but couldn't find any. When I installed mine right out of the box it was really stiff / inflexible from the PFTE coating. It partially flaked off when spinning it (but the initial resistance was VERY high), got much better after putting the Premier lube on it and when going on my first short ride. Did I miss a step in the installation? I think most of it will have flaked off after my next ride and it'll show it's real performance behavior but I wanted to check if I did something wrong. Thanks!

The chain will be stiff out of the packaging. That is the wax that has been forced into all the small areas between the plates, pins and rollers. The chain needs to be trimmed to length. On our Tactical with the mid compact crank and 11/23 we remove 4-5 links.

You should use the chain without any additional lube for the first 500 miles. After that add lube as needed.

Excess wax will flake off as you ride.

After about 10 minutes riding the chain will get very smooth.

The quick link can be used over and over. The side of the quick link with the larger radius faces the chain ring.

Great, thanks! I was assembling a new bike but definitely had to add lube to it - otherwise I couldn’t set and finetune the derailleur as it just wouldn’t shift properly. (It definitely does now, though).

I have a couple quick questions on the XS:

- what size is the cassette?
- I know the chainring is 52-36. Will it be possible to change it to a 50-34 at a later date?
- Will the bike accommodate a mid-cage rear derailleur (to handle a 11-32 cassette)?

I am asking because I ended up changing my current 2012 Scott Plasma to a 50-34 with mid-cage derailleur and 11-32 cassette. I made the change prior to doing Israman in January - 3300 meters of climbing and a strong wind. It worked really well for me. I doubt I would have made the bike cutoff without those changes. I ended up leaving the configuration as is for three Oly distances races I did this summer and found that the top end gearing was still okay for me on the flats and downhills. I'm 60 years old and 130 pounds with an FTP of 210-220.

The XS comes with a dual InfoCrank power meter with a 52/36, 155 crank arms and an 11/23 cassette.

You can swap that cassette out the 11/23 for any Shimano cassette.

The rear Mech is the newest Ultegra R8000 series and will accept any of the Shimano cages. The bike also comes with our large pulley ceramic cage kit.

Yes - the 52/36 is standard but you can easily swap out for a 50/34. Shimano does not currently make 155 crank arm so arm length should be a consideration when swapping cranks.

What keeps you from manually break each link free by hand before installing the chain on your bike? That is what I would do and have always done it to my own chain after waxing it.

What kept me from it was simply not expecting the chain to be so rigid. This was my first time using a Premier chain, so I wasn't aware it would be have different in that sense. But this was good to know for next time (and to confirm I didn't do anything wrong, it's just normal for a little bit).

Thanks for the response. Just to confirm, the R8000 series will allow me to run up to an 11/30 cassette. If I change to the 50/34, I should just go with Praxis which is what InfoCrank is using, right?

That would be a good plan. The R8000 will handle an 11/34.

That's typical for chains that have been freshly waxed. After a few turns around the crank it will be much smoother and silent than what you're used to!

Go back and read Post #736 above: "That is the wax that has been forced into all the small areas between the plates, pins and rollers."

Also from the website: "We utilize a physical Isotropic Surface Process/an impregnation process in combination with the Wax/PTFE/MsO2 coating."

I need to update the website. Thank you for pointing that out. We changed to the wax/ tungsten Dysulfide process about a year ago.
It is a much better product/ process.

With the new material we could reduce the Ra (surface roughness average) from 3.5 to 1.5 and still have lubrications retention.

The new chain process raises some questions. So I have a Premier chain that I bought last spring that didn't get used:
1) are there any issues using it with the Premier lube?
2) will the formulation of the Premier lube change?
3) Will a reformulation work well with regular chains?
4) How much faster is the new chain?

No issues using our lube or Squirt lube.

Yes the lube work with regular chains - the chains need to be clean and free from oil based lube and factory grease.

The new process (Jan 2018) further reduced drag by 1.3 watts.

If you purchased your chain in spring of 2018 you have the new process and our fastest tested chain.
