Nope. I just don't think she has the capacity to do this to plan (at least not without cheating).

Sure, "you" think that.

Found out Kaged Muscle is doing her nutrition. I've almost bought a few of their supplements for training but I've kept with the brand I've been using. Kris Gethin has completed an Ironman and apparently has a 70.3 and another Ironman on his schedule.

Why are you attempting to broadstroke everyone who disagrees with you into a collective group? And don't say you're not; you didn't qualify your statements at all.

And "butthurt" and "wannabe athletes" and "panties in a bunch" may impress your frat bros, but they're not really a way to win an argument.

Sadly there are so many other cases of profiteering from good will under the banner of charity that its easy to be cynical as soon as you see someone slapping a charity on

I hear that a lot but wonder if it's true. If there is 1 case of a charity profiteering, the publicity is so overwhelming that it's easy to attribute that to others but really, I wonder how many are like that. I've done lots of work with charities and have never actually seen a problem but based on what everyone repeats, it happens all the time. I think it's one of those things were people repeat things because other people repeated them. I'd like to find out exactly how many times a charity has been set up and where they actually profited.

Omg! Might want to sharpen up on those bike handling skills before the 50. How will she stay upright when she is tired beyond physical limits? I’ve been riding for years and have never clipped the front wheel of a fellow rider. Not that it can’t happen, but that was as flat and non technical as it gets. At least she won’t have to worry about drafting on the 50.

It looks like she ran into Donkey Kong's rear wheel. That draft must be like riding behind a box truck.

Not once in that video were either of them ever in aero position. SMH.

Total bs on lifting mimicking swimming. She’s clueless. As well, I would have lifted after swimming, if I was going
to lift at all in conjunction with a swim. In terms of the selfies in the kit, she’s really into herself I can tell. I’m glad she likes the badass color ways of her new kit and how she’s so muscular in it.

Her training theory seems to be that strength work is more beneficial than actual swimming, biking, and running; or at least replaces much of the volume. But when I saw the videos of her "running" she looked downright awkward as well as very heavy, but not in an overweight sense. She is obviously an amazing athlete in her own realm, but all that muscle is not going to help her in this quest. The principle of sports specificity seems to be lost on her and her coach.

I do hope she completes a few legitimate full distance days to help her fundraising efforts.

You definitely need more “strength” to become more “powerful”. On the bike and run for distance events. That’s why all the best pro cyclists and runners look like they are anorexic...

These are circa 2008 slowtwitch arguments. No one is lacking power on the bike to go fast. Theyre lacking the ability to maintain that power.

I don't think her fundraising is tied to whether she completes any, at all

It's not like people are pledging $XX for each Ironman she finishes or each mile she completes; it's more like "Hey, while I'm doing crazy amounts of exercising, and posting selfies & motivational memes, why not donate to this orphanage?"

It's one thing to know that for this event making sure you're strong to help with the beating your body is going to take on day after day. But as you're pointing out you need some, or more likely a lot, sports specificity.

Efficiency is going to very key in this task, and she just doesn't seem to have it

Everything she does looks labored and clunky, and all that extra energy expenditure is gonna gobble up fueling/hydrattion resources, The poor form is going to affect her recovery, since things are going to get beaten up more than they need to be

If you think her form is bad now wait to see her form when she is exhausted, sleep deprived, in pain and is chafed/full of blisters. Ive been glancing at the workouts she has been posting and haven't seen any truly big back to back to back days. This means her body isn't going to have any idea on how to react from the pounding its about to take, and then having to begin again a few hours later. She will also not know what it feels like to have to get out of bed and do a full IM when youre exhausted and your body is shutting down.

You don't think she'll be doing any drafting? In that video where she crashed, they had escort vehicles in front of them (and behind), which can only I assume was for the entire century ride.

Most of the Bro Supplement lines are much better funded and researched than say SCRATCH for simple fact they're much larger companies. Take a look at the nutrient profiles. Also, the flavor systems are ridiculous.

When I was cycling...because I haven't been on a bike since May because of "things" I would take a scoop of MTS Naturalyte (electrolyte powder) and a scoop of MTS Machine Fuel (BCAA) on my 25 Mile rides and then go up from there.

No way!

I have got an idea:

Everybody with a good heart who really wants to help her out should donate to her medical emergency fund.

Are you suggesting that Slowtwitchers preemptively set up a Gofundme account to help pay for her medical bills when she hurts herself? As sort of a Triathletes Against Humanity betting pool that she won't make it? That would be... different.

Lol it will be interesting that’s for sure. I used to train with a guy who jumped on the gear-the transformation was just breathtaking. He went from struggling to finish a 45 minute weight workout to doing mega high weight and intensity work outs that would last 2 hours. Plus he put on 15kgs in like 3 months (obviously not all muscle)

So the increase in endurance , strength and recovery is mind boggling. She might just surprise us all...
