Thanks for the great feedback!! The crew over at Multisport Distribution are great, making sure all of our customers in the UK are covered with XLAB gear :)

Re the fine splashes - the air hole in the solid cap has to be there in order for you to drink out of the bite valve. If it was completely solid then in a sense hydrolocks the system and prevents any liquids from coming out of the valve. If part of your bite valve is tucked under the center plastic piece then it could very well be that. May want to check on yours and see if this is the case.

Re not being able to get fluids - you may want to see if your system is horizontal or if it is tilting up at the front. If it's tilting up then try and get it more level which will help you get more fluids.

Re the floppy straw - yeah we just have the 1 thickness of straw, but we have had an elite test team member talk to us about this need. We are looking into this. If you can reach down with a shorter straw then this obviously would make it stiffer. I would not cut it at first and just tuck the straw into the bottle and see if you can get down low with ease. Because once you cut the straw there is no going back :)

What is the trick to installing the plug in the bottle? I've been trying to push it through for 30 min now and it's driving me nuts.

Install it from inside the bottle. First push the plug up at an angle & ensure you have part of the small lip on the outside of the bottle. Then continually push up as you go around in a circle. Try to avoid letting up on the plug as you push it up otherwise it tends to want to back out of the hole. Most of all patience! It will go in and you won't get any leaks from that hole...promise!!

We are filming a new video on helpful tips for the Torpedo System....hopefully be up in the next week or so. Will make sure that is one we cover as the first video we did doesn't have a visual of it. Will make sure I post a link to it here when it is live.

So I have been using the torpedo for a few months with great success. Recently I decided to spread my aero bar pads out about 1/2" to get a more comfortable position for longer rides. This made my torpedo bottle bounce around a ton. Before, the bottle's rear rested on the aero pads just slightly enough to stabilize it. Now that that support is gone it just wanted to move and make a ton of noise. I came up with a small, easy fix that might help some others: velcro "shock absorbers." Here are some pics, basically it just gives the bottle something to rest on so it isn't bouncing so much. Before I did this, I checked all the straps to make sure they weren't lose, and those suckers are hella tight, so I really didn't see any other solution short of moving my aero pads back closer together.

Hey Candace,

Is there a replacement parts kit without having to buy the bottle as well. I need a new straw as it is starting to crack pretty badly at the point where it enters the bottle, it's not leaking yet but it won't be long. It's also pretty nasty where the bite valve and tube connect. I've also misplaced my solid lid and have no idea where it could be. Not to mention the screws are starting to corrode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Daryle

The red plastic around my bite valve split after about 3 months. I had to cut it off. Candice, if you have any questions, let me know. I just think the plastic is too thin. I've not missed the valve since I cut it off.

They do sell a new straw and bite valve, if you need one.

Sloth, I had no idea that the bottle could actually be quiet! Mine rattles a lot...other straps are tight... Where did you find those velcro 'shock absorbers'?? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Bryan... I found them a little while after I posted the question to Candace. Don't know why I was having trouble... seemed simple enough... one of those days I guess.

I bought a roll of Velcro from the hardware store the rolled a couple inches of it around a pencil. That makes the little shock absorber barrel. Then just cut the strip, leaving about 2 inches, and put them under the aero pads like in the pics.

I have the torpedo for about two weeks. The staw seems cracked at the end inside the bottle. About 1/2 inch slit in length. Is this normal?

Definitely not normal! Can you send me a picture of it so I can check it out, candice@xlab-usa.com? These go through a quality check before they are sent out so I am very interested in seeing this.

I have a tear in my straw near the bite valve. The straw is a little long, so I was considering cutting it near the bite valve, then re-inserting the valve in the top of the straw. How hard is it to install the bite valve back into the straw? I have a race coming up and don't want to attempt it, if there's a chance I won't be able to get it put back together. Thanks.

Hi Bencoolb,

The bite valve is actually glued to the straw, so if you are able to re-attach it, we cannot guaranteee that it will be as reliable as before. Can you send a picture of the tear through our warranty department, warranty@xlab-usa.com? It might get covered under warranty in which case no need to worry about re-attaching it. Let them know you have a race coming up so we can make sure to get a straw to you in time.

Hi

Anybody got any suggestions on how to keep the torpedo BTA bottle "locked in"? Did my first event with it a couple of weeks ago and hit a bump - nothing major - and it shot out and so I'm now down 1 bottle (as an aside, as I had no other bottles / cages on the bike and was relying aid stations to refill it meant I had to just drink what I could as I went through the stations and then toss the bottle I'd picked up out as I left the station - I don't recommend this!).

I'll buy the replacement kit because I like how the bottle works (when it stays on) but I'm going to need to figure how to set it up so there's no way it can come out. It had seemed pretty solid on the couple of training rides I had with it, with the top of the screw sliding into the slot underneath to hold the bottle in but I guess all was not as good as it appeared. So, any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Wrap some electrical tape around the bottle and cage - I just do it in one spot. Pretty? No. It's effective though. I had the same thing happen at TTT, and also one training ride. Both times I hit some really nasty bumps. For training rides I won't tape it down, but I do for any race.

I would just cut it off and forget about it . The red plastic on the valve split on mine after about 4 months of use, and the bite valve basically came apart during a ride one day. I think the bottle itself is really good but the bite valve was sub-par.

We do have our Engineers looking at a design enhancement. This is one of their top priorities that they are focused on. I will post here once we have a more reliable & long term solution, but in the meantime we will of course replace any torn valves.

We do have a tip here that shows how to properly lock the bottle in. Not saying you didn't do this, but it is a good double-check: http://xlab-usa.com/torpedo-system.html. It is the 2nd video on the page. If you have pictures of your setup I can see if there is anything there that might be helping it to launch.

Hi Candice,

Do you sell just the bottle? I don't think I installed mine very well over the past few months and put a hole in the bottom of the bottle.

Hi Candice

Thanks - will take a pic and send it on over over the next day or so to see if you have any hints that might help. I'm pretty obessive about trying to make sure stuff "works" so I had followed the instructions on the video but somehow the bottle still made its break for freedom. I guess there's always the one off - I just want to make very sure that it's a one off and put the security of the bottle beyond doubt next time.

Cheers

As do I, so don't blame you for wanting it to be 100% secure. If your setup looks fine we can come up with some tips that will help secure it more so you aren't worried about it.
