"The Torpedo System 400 is $135 because it comes with a carbon fiber cage and a carbon fiber mount which cannot be compared to other complete systems on the market right now."

Exactly my point. I am sure there are plenty of people that will still buy this but you are paying a premimum for carbon products that are not even necessary to have a BTA. I think this price point will prove too much for the average triathlon consumer who can get a solid BTA set up for far less. I guess only time will prove me right or wrong.

We should start shipping to dealers end of this month. We are close to selling out of the 1st batch so make sure you call your dealer today and get one on order so you don't have to wait for the second batch to come in.

Understand your viewpoint :)

I agree with you for the average triathlon consumer the Torpedo System 100 is the better option for them. There are riders out there however that are concerned about weight and want the very best materials to put on their bike and that is where the Torpedo System 400 comes into play.

Is there just a bottle option? For a P5 we don't need the bottle mount, etc.

Thank you.

Hi David,

Love the P5! Yes there will be just a bottle option, but we are focusing on the systems at the moment. Will know more details about the bottles closer to the end of this month.

I'd love just a bottle option as well! I've already got my own homemade torpedo-esque mount + garmin mount, so wouldn't have much need for the options that come with it.

I'm looking for the bottle to put on my Speed Concept to fit in the 9 series cockpit. I currently have the speedfill A2 which I've used and love but it's time to get sleek and this bottle has everything I'm looking for in a nice little package.

Definitely sleek! Just recently won its first race too! Meredith Kessler sported a pre-production version at 70.3 Vineman this weekend.

I like the look of this product. I especially like the computer mount forward of the bottle for better viewing (hopefully). I may pick one up.

Question: Will the computer mount accommodate the 'old' Powertap LYC?

For the zip ties and cage guys. What has been your experience with the fit of the bottle hand ups in HIM and IM, specifically the off the grocers shelf sport top water bottles. Any issues with them moving around? Been using a Tor Hans thinking of just the BTA cage.

My biggest problem wasn't necessarily the fit, but rather volunteers removing the caps from the bottles. A water bottle with no cap was just about useless.

Did the deliver date for the 400 system get pushed back to August 22?

Hi Jamie,

Yes it should accommodate that although we haven't tested that one specifically. Meredith Kessler has the 1st gen Cycleops power meter and was able to mount that in front. If I recall the old Powertap LYC is shorter than the Cycleops power meter.

No...first batch should be shipping end of this month, if anything it would slip to 1st week of August, but definitely not August 22nd. 2nd batch is most likely around end of August/beginning of September timeframe. Where did you hear August 22nd?

The company (Arts Cyclery) that I pre-ordered through changed their delivery date on the 400 to August 22. But kept the 100 system date of July 22. I called to see if it was a misprint, but the rep I got just said their web site is right.
Thanks for answering my question, I'm looking forward to getting it by the end of the month.

I would trust the dealer on when they are available to you. We are getting a lot of feedback from our dealers saying they have a lot of pre-orders already for them.

No they won't fit on the mount with the bottle. You can still use the bottle, but will have to use a separate computer mount that attaches directly to your aerobars.

After ERO testing today, I think it's safe to say you'll be seeing the Torpedo on Luke McKenzie's bike from here forward. I'd bet the Stealth Pocket 400 will adorn his top tube, too. Just a guess. ;-)

looks good, and glad to see it fits between a later model P2, as i find the bar extensions (3T) fairly narrow. I wonder how this compares to the torhans. I like the fact with the torhans you just have to drink because the straw is right there, however there is drag from the bottle (cant remember how much). In this instance there no doubt is no drag with the xlab (or minimal) but you do have to move to get the straw.
