The Garmin computer is still very stable on the mount even though it looks narrow. If you criss-cross the O-ring bands per the Helpful tips sheet and the rubber mount you are using, you should be good! Let me know if you are still having issues after you try the tape method.

Thanks Candice!

I started with the criss-cross (per the instructions) and the rubber mount under the Garmin mount. The sucker still wants to rotate a little and move off to the left or right while riding. It's not drastic, but I'm sure you know how demanding people who really like bikes are.

Again, this is still the best "total package" product that I have come across and made sure others know it. Hopefully all of the time you spend responding to users via the forums helps you guys create the best products possible.

Are the o-rings relatively new?

Glad to hear despite the slight rotation you are still a fan. Yes I love being on here and gathering all of this helpful feedback that I can relay to my design team. We appreciate all feedback whether it is good or bad, so keep it coming!!

O-rings were straight outta the bag from Garmin. It just seems to be a width issue with the mount have a little bit of overhang on each side.

I super glued the elastics into the those channels. That held the position firm... too firm. The Garmin mount would occasionally lose a corner on one of the band wraps. I super glued those too. Now it's really solid.

anyone have an issue with their straps? have one of these 6 months, realised on spin today the bottle was shaking like mad, one of the straps was missing. thought it must have fallen off, cycled back the road and found it, but it hadn't fallen off, it had torn completely. Cycled home with one finger hooked around the mount to keep it steady, shoulder didn't like that.

anyone else have strap tearing issues? i guess zip ties are the next option. just glad it happened today rather than next saturday during one of 2 big races for the year for me

Shouldn't have torn with the mini mount. Did you have the reinforced section of the strap up against the slot in the torpedo plate?

hey Candice
yeah, sure did, checked the other straps and they are lined up right as well. need to check when i get home but it wasn't at that bit it tore

i posted as last night i was wondering whether to change out all four if it was a common problem, but after sleeping on it, i guess the prudent thing to do is replace all of them with cable ties, given i have to do one anwyay

I am using the Torpedo with a Garmin Edge 800. I haven't figured our a position yet where I can angle the computer flat or in such a way that it is easier to see. There is not enough space at the end of the bottle to accommodate the (slightly) longer computer. Unless I'm missing something.

Do you have the 800 mounted out in front of the bottle? If so, what are you using to do that?

Hmmm, ok well I haven't heard of this issue with the new Torpedo Systems. We can definitely get a replacement strap out to you so you don't have to go the cable tie route. I would like to know more info and perhaps a pic if you still have the broken strap so we can figure out what happened. If you could do that it would be great, you can email me directly candice@xlab-usa.com

Hi Matt,

It is very close with the 800 & 810 models, but customers have made it work. The setup you will need is:

Spacers: use the shortest spacers or use no aero spacers at all.
Cage/Mount Placement: make sure the cage is all the way to the back of the mount
Computer Mount Placement: ensure the Aero Computer Mount is all the way to the edge of the plate.

If you have all 3 components, you can email me a picture and I can help further.

I want to put a 24 ounce camelback bottle in my torpedo cage, and don't want my Garmin 800 in front of the bottle (I want easy bottle removal). Any mounting suggestions? Photos would be appreciated.

Which Torpedo Mount do you have? The original or the new Mini Mount?

Then I can get something mocked up with pictures.

I had the strap break last weekend, as well. I was going to try a zip tie to keep it from happening again, but I still have the strap. I can send you pics tonight.

Yes that would be great thanks. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will make sure we get to the bottom of this and see what's causing the breakage.

Thanks Candice. I'll try changing the spacers. Because of where the bends are in my bars, and where the stem is, I'm not sure if no spacers would work and still allow the bottle to click all the way in. I can see how that would solve the problem on the front end though. I'll try it out tomorrow.
Thanks for the tips.

Yes I do, it just isn't work so great. The bottom of the 800 interferes with the front end of the bottle. Working on the issue.

Oh I was referring to the aero spacers. The aero spacers won't affect how the bottle clicks in, they just raise the level of the cage/bottle to the level of your arms. You can add the washers to the screws to make sure the bottle is installed properly and clicks in.

Candice, is it possible to just get the bottle? I have a P5 so the full system isn't needed. Thanks.

Lucky you!! Love the P5s. Yes you can just buy the bottle, it is called the Torpedo Refill Upgrade Kit. Available in stores or online and comes with everything in the system except for the cage, torpedo mount & Aero Computer Mount.

Candice...do you guys sell just the red part at the end of the straw? I had it rip about half way through the ride at Ironman Boise and I was having a lot of trouble getting any water out of the bottle. After I noticed that the red pinch valve had torn and wasn't sealing around the black plastic piece. I saw that they sell the whole straw at trisports.com but with shipping it's over $20. I don't need the straw, just the red rubber part at the end of the straw. If possible I would like to buy a few in case this happens again. Thanks. Todd. I have the torpedo 400 system.

Hi Todd,

Unfortunately the valve is connected to the hose so they come as one. Email our customer service department and they may be able to help. info@xlab-usa.com

I have had the system since racing IM Sweden in 2013. One of the first in the UK to get it thanks to my friends at Multisport Distribution. Overall I like it and have 'managed' to get my hydration tabs in and also fill up the bottle on the move. Never that easy in race conditions I find.

I am using the clear plastic top and when the bottle is more than half full I get a lot of 'fine' splashes on my legs - It must be the little air hole in the solid cap. What is the purpose of this hole? It is worse if I have just placed an effervescent tab in there!!!! Or could it be the actual bite value spitting water at me???

I also find that I stop getting fluids from it long before it is empty (probably straw placement inside). No real problem but worth mentioning.

The value on the straw makes a real noise against the plastic bottle (when pinned down with using the dolphin tail) and I was not sure what this noise was for my very first ride with the system. I resolved this by placing a sticky velcro pad (fluffy one) under where it rests.

I am still experimenting with straw placement. I need it quite long to be able to drink and see where I am going. I have always used the dolphin tale to date. With the straw long it is obviously very floppy and you need to guide it in to your mouth. You then need a glance down to tuck the straw back under the tail. I was considering having it short and permanently sticking up (the way Liz Blatchford did in IM Mallorca 70.3) to see if that simplifies things for me.
