I think Remco is other level bad though. Did you see Pog ripping the descent to get away at Strade? Some of that was perhaps nerves/luck over skill I guess, but at least some level of bike handling involved. No way Remco is on his level and then if Vino took the front it could have made Remco very uncomfortable.
Hopefully the rumours about what led to this are untrue, otherwise she is F'd.
What rumors??!! (PM/email if you're not comfortable propagating them here).
Her team is only confirming this (as well as allegations of domestic abuse against her and coerced her to lie under oath) off the record at this point and FWIW, I don't see anything from the UCI yet and she appears still able to race at this point (if she had a team). There are court filings supporting this sadly.
This is a troubling read... https://cyclingtips.com/2022/03/new-zealand-champion-olivia-ray-dropped-by-team-with-usada-investigation-underway/
Is Dani Martinez riding the Tour? If not I was thinking he would be a good co-leader. His TT is fairly good and he is climbing great.
Agreed, Martinez has all the tools to be a GC contender in grand tours, just hasn't had much opportunity. Wouldn't be surprised if Ineos is using Paris-Nice as an assessment of him vs Yates for Tour leadership.
That's insane. He's so much better than anyone else. And has really no weaknesses. Brilliant at pack positioning and reading a race (though those are far easier to do when you have a massive reserve to bail yourself out). Descending, TT, punching, gravel, cobbles, crosswinds....all first rate. No real sprint, but solid kick to the line.
Agree the TdF is going to be boring, even with Roglic looking good, unless some stage kicks him in the teeth...crash, bonk, etc.

You should correct your post. Ray is a victim of domestic abuse most likely. The allegations of domestic abuse are not against her but rather against a bf of hers who is also a cyclist - Jackson Nash. Reading that article it sounds like he has quite a bit of power and control over her.
It is a terrible story and she does absolutely look like she is in an abusive relationship. Still lying to the police about crimes and using PEDs will fall on her, even if there is leniency.

It's reminiscent of the Jenna Blandford case (masters CX in that case, so much lesser level of racing). Relationship gone south with the doping evidence used as ammunition.
I hope Ray finds healthy relationships and happiness. Also hope if the doping allegations end up being true, she gets at least a 4-year timeout from competitive cycling.
Looks like MvdP is going to be ready for Flanders. He is finally doing some good efforts (that are showing up on Strava at least). Looks like some segments taken, although for reference he did about 12 minutes at 460 watts here. Last year he did that for the 31 minute TT in the Tour.
I wonder how he will hold up this season?
With regards to Rohan and Wout, that was every bit their win too. When Rohan's head is right he is a monster no matter the terrain.
