I don't need to try to reverse engineer your custom last, but knowing your basic shoe size would be helpful. Thanks!

Size EU44. Normal width.

I'm in for products like this up to about $400.

I've printed heel fins for my shoes previously. Now I don't feel like such a tool :-)

You're definitely not at tool :)

Did you race with your fins? Were they flat fins or more of a bulbous shape?

You know I love this idea and I would love to see this product make it to market. We tried to incorporate some of the additional aero designs in to my custom shoe project with Rocket7. In the end we just ended up with a lightweight version of the Giro Empire SLX that are custom to my feet. I have really learned to love the simplicity of my elastic design but if you can improve the aero still, while improving ease of entry you have a winner. I tried a pair of Bont Cronos too and while they may be aero, they were not comfy and I can't imagine trying to get into them in a triathlon. For TTs maybe but definitely not designed for tri.

I'm a size 45 EE. My foot basically matches the Bont "wide" last perfectly fwiw. If you want I can send you a scaled tracing.

Thanks - I don't need a tracing. Just want to get an idea of what size range the wide feet are in to see if it is a manageable inventory issue. Thanks for the data!

What were the difficulties you encountered in trying to input aero ideas into the shoe?

KC had made a pair for Zabriski that had similar sorts of aero properties to your design. I was already going back and forth between midfoot and forefoot. To be honest that decision took the priority away from the design process and we said we could always do a second pair after I determined what I really wanted. I went with midfoot.

Part of the reason I printed up the heel cups was that my size (44) is often on the shorter end of a shoe-cover size range. Rather than sizing down and making it nearly impossible to get the covers on, I used the "correct" size and then filled in some additional space on the back of my shoes to make them just the right level of tight. They added about 2" to the total length of the shoes. I have raced TT's with them, but I don't think that anyone has ever even noticed.

Oh yeah, they had the sole taper into a fin shape, right?

Just please don't use that typeface.
And offer a couple colour variants too (neutral black/white for example - because kit matching is important)

What do you guys think about this black version compared to the white/red?

I think the black ones look nicer and won't show scuffs as much.

Matte black with gloss layers and pieces, right?

The black version looks much better IMO

Solid, I hope this makes it to market. I think you have cornered the slowtwitch crowd with this product, the same group that buys $300 empires and cuts them up. You just need to convince Jan Frodeno to wear them... That way Sanders will buy a pair and you will have two kona contenders marketing for you for the price of one!

OK everyone - another question. I know people love to see glossy carbon fiber with the woven fabric underneath. But what if we could make the shoe even lighter and stiffer (and probably cheaper) by combining all the sole components and the main heel bracket into a single injection-molded carbon fiber peice? It would look matte black, rather than the conventional hand-laid carbon fiber fabric look.

It would look similar to the sole of this shoe (but obviously not this design or shape)

Would this make you more, less or equally likely to be interested in the shoe?

Glossy or not is not the deal breaker or winner for me. Matte color would be perfectly fine.

I don't think most ppl would care about the aesthetic of the soul enough to sway them. Personally, I like the mat blk even more though, so there ya go.
