Here's a shot of my P5 with the BTA bottle and Garmin 500 in place.

That's Zipp Race Vuka Shift 22.2mm extensions, right? Do you know the horizontal distance from middle of BB to center of the axle of the shifters? I'm thinking about those extensions, but race under UCI rules so need to be sure they are not too long when used with the Aduro :)

Yes. They are indeed the Zipp Race Vuka extensions (22.2 mm) with SRAM R2C yaw shifters. The horizontal distance from the center of the BB to the shifter pivot is 73.4 cm for my set-up. I run my saddle 5.1 cm behind the BB so I could go UCI legal if I swapped forks (assuming that the rise on the Race Vukas are legal...not sure about that).

Does anyone else have a saddle type/position that prevents the use of the Xlab Delta Sonic? I am using the Adamo TT saddle in a rearward position, not all the way back, but maybe 15-20mm behind center. The saddle needs to slide forward about 15mm or the Delta Sonic needs to be 15mm longer for it to fit. If it was only a few mm, I would just trim the rear of the saddle.

Maybe Xlab can make a longer version to be more compatible for Adamo (maybe others) saddles?

Thanks for the information. Seems like it isn't a problem to get shifter pivot reach short enough for UCI rules - at least not on the 51. I don't think the rise should be a problem, you still see riders in the big races even with ski bends.

I had the same problem. At 5cm saddle setback, the XLAB wouldn't fit. Obviously, it was designed for a more forward position (at least with an Adamo TT saddle). I am thinking about having a machinist friend make me one of the proper length if I can get the proper dimensions.

x2... When is somebody going to finally make a massively overpriced box to be used down on the BB boss? It's been a yr and I want one... Would be such a great place to hold my tire change kit.

I'm half tempted to try designing one myself. Only problem is shaping to the frame. Just don't have all the injection moulding stuff to actually make a real product.

This has me a bit worried. I just ordered an X-Lab carbon wing for my P5 since I was told it would work with the saddle (I use an Adamo saddle already). Hopefully my shop can get it all mounted without too much difficulty. Between getting that mounted and the computer and everything...the guys might have to put some thought into this build! Can't wait for it to finally show up. It was listed as "shippable" this month...and the month is almost over. Hopefully that means it will be here soon. Then to get rid of the single digit weather...

Shane, no need to worry. The XLAB Carbon Wing will fit on your Adamo with no problem. It mounts to the saddle rails, not the seatpost.

Quicker reply then I thought :)

Yes the Delta Sonic was designed for a more forward mounting position. Thank you for letting us know how much longer it will need to fit. We are taking note on this and may come out with a longer one in the future. In the meantime, you can always swap out the Delta Sonic for our Delta 225. This is a single rear carrier that mounts to your saddle rails.

Hi jdgreena,

Let me know for you how much longer it needs to be in order to fit. As I said in my other post, we may make a longer one in the future and taking note on what the measurements need to be. An alternative carrier you could use would be the Delta 225.

Thanks for the quick response. I will take a photo of my setup with a tape on it to show how far it is off for my saddle positon to pass on. Btw, my saddle nose is 6cm off the BB center.

I have an old carbon wing that I plan to use for training, I like to bring the kitchen sink for my +100 mile rides. However, I would like the sleeker Delta Sonic for races.

Here is the pic of my Adamo Saddle / Sonic Delta issue. The saddle clamp is as far back as it can be and still slide the Delta Sonic into the post and secure it. Hope it helps. Maybe your engineers can develop a single peice that is both the "beam" for the saddle clamp and the bottle holder. If there were multiple hole locations for the saddle clamp it could support different mounting locations/saddle types.

Thanks,
Dirk

Candace,

I need about 2.5 cm more length to get good engagement.

Thanks for asking,

Candace - as a suggestion for your engineers, rather than making the Delta Sonic rod longer, you could design it to accomodate an extension or design it to be cut. If it was longer and not adjustable so as to accomodate a deep saddle setback, then for mid or forward seat positions it would stick out too far behind the saddle.

Customer cuts the rod: pre-drill and thread the rod with 2 different set screw holes, and a "cut knotch" to provide your customers a refernce point to cut the rod. If we need it long, nothing needs to be cut and we use the front set screw hole to secure the rod in the seat post. If we need it shorter, the rod can be cut with a hacksaw, and the rear set screw hold can be used.

Extension: ship the rod with an extension that can be added. The extension rod is designed with a larger diameter hollow end (a "collar") and regular diameter end, and slips over the existing rod, and is then secured with a longer set screw and locktite. The regular diameter end of the extension is then inserted into the seat post and secured in the normal fashion. With this design, you won't need to change the current Delta Sonic at all - just provide an extension.

Something like:

=
..=.......................................==
....=.............................====III====
......==Delta Sonic==========III====Extension====
...................................====III====

jwrdds,

The Di2 9070 bar end shifters will ship with the bike. These are the two button ones and they will be the only shifters included in the box. The neat part is that we will be using the 5 port bus so you have the option of adding the remote 'climber' shifter (not included in the box). This way, if you choose to add remote shifting, you will have an easy and quick add-on. Note; this is not the 'sprinter shifter' as it requires the STI Di2 to be used.

The 5 port bus seems fairly large, where does it fit on the P5-6?

I don't plan on using stock Di2 shifters and instead will be replacing with my own momentary switches on aero bars
and will be adding the Cat Eye switches also to the outside of the Rt6 brake levers. This is how my P4 is setup but with Ultegra di2
instead of Dura Ace.

Since I will be splicing into the front harness cable to make this work it would seem that I could just use the Di2 road
bike front harness, SM-EW79-AE instead of SM-EW79A-I2?

Maybe I don't understand the differences in the front wiring harnesses but I thought the EW79-AE was for when you only one
set of shifters and EW79A-I2 for when you have two sets as in aero bars and on brakes. This is why I don't understand why
Cervelo would spec the SM-EW79A-I2 when the P5 does not have shifting on the brakes. Is it for the additional length
of the cables?

Also, where is the front harness component for checking battery level usually installed on the P5?

Update -- Doing some additional digging on P5 and Di2 I see that it fits in the aero bar.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Patiently building after long wait.Its been a week & still not done.
Testing which bracket, measuring everything before cutting fork.

Trying different extensions.

Decided on a slight bend extension from an old sbend that I cut. Most comfortable.

Working on a bento & garmin mount on the stem cap.
Also a di2 shifter on the Maguras using Shimano climbing shifters (SW7970) that I cannibalized.

Used buttons from an old Cateye cyclometer over the springs.
