It just won't be the same unless the another girl is another Canadian Womens.
And what are the odds of that?

not too high.....

If Tri Girl is not Canadian, I will encourage her to at least be mouthy and obnoxious to the boys in the pavilion post-race...

Thanks, looks like I might have found a slightly more local ride. But I appreciate the thought!

Regular or charity slots? I know of a woman looking to get in, British, not Canadian though. On a budget.

Regular slots. They are "late registration" so $150. Still worth every penny, and then some!

PS - current forecast is eerily like last year's - "chance of afternoon showers".
Yeah, right. Bring EVERYTHING!!!!

Ha! I saw that this morning and chuckled.

I'm taking my kid to JFK for an 8 am flight (just one reason I won't be there this year). I'm figuring his flight will be delayed.
Confident you guys will get wet. Keep dancin ;)

It "looked clear" at 10pm the night before the race last year - and we all know how *that* turned out...
Just sayin'.

Rest day today. Does rain dancing count as active recovery?

One thing I can guarantee - there will be mud on the run course.
Heavy rain and T-storms forecast for the remainder of today into tonight.
You're welcome.

With all this talk about last years weather, I have to say...I thought the heat of the year before was even worse. Perhaps that is because I was an unprepared, uninitiated, dehydrated, AmZof virgin in 2012. The cooling drizzle (along with wet terrifying descents while not being able to see because of rain and road grime in your eyes) of 2013 wasn't so bad. Then again, I'm not as waifish as some of you.

So my 10 pound gain and sloth dom since Boston will surely help me on the descents .....

I am looking at this year as participating and a preview to racing next year

Slow down girl. A couple of days ago it was 8 pounds. Leave some room to be a pig after the race!

I thought 2012 was almost ideal conditions. A go-fast day, and my GCG F1 PB.
(of course, we were done before the warmer afternoon conditions kicked in.)

2010 was even nicer - a bit cooler, and almost dead calm too. Zoom zoom!

Since I'm gunning for time on the bike, I'm hoping the NW winds being forcasted aren't too strong. That takes away from some of the time than can be made going across 299, and down the big descent from Minne. Should be a bit of a tailwind on the whole Granite-Towpath section however - which would be nice too.

I had a great race in 2012, coming off my 90-degree meltdown in Boston a month before. Perhaps my slow walk from Newton to Boston helped me acclimate. Last year, I DNF'ed after the first bike loop in the F1, shaking uncontrollably and afraid I was going to crash on the bike descents. I was planning on running a second loop before DNF'ing, but I couldn't change my shoes.

I suspect there will be a race day thread on here...but if not, or for more fun coverage follow me @j_hirsch on twitter. I will be on site and try to cover the race with an extra focus on the LC event because my special little lady is racing it. I weighed her down with a ring since last year, not sure how it will effect her performance as i
ts a very hill event and all.

As long as the ring is lightweight, has excellent power transfer, and is laterally stiff yet vertically compliant, she should be good to go.

I won a Big Honkin Stein in 2012 (2nd 45-49) then all the fast guys showed up last year :(
Weather didn't effect me either year.

Worse thing about the rain is setting up in transition. Once the gun goes off who gives a shit? Just avoid the painted lines and deal. Shitty weather makes epic races.
