Here it is again....



Okay...in addition....I have a local price for baseball caps. Produced in Gibraltar, that is.

The set-up costs for the design is $39 - this is the set-up of the embroidery machine.....then each cap costs $13.40. We would dissolve the set-up cost into each cap ordered....if we have 30 firm orders then we divide $39 by 30.....you know what I mean.....duh!?

This is produced by embroidery and the caps are good quality but non-technical. How much to send each one around the world I don't know.....if we added $5 for charity plus the postage, let's say $10 max. for arguments sake, then it could all come to max. $30 a cap including the donation.

I looked in Niketown web site and Nike caps, same quality, cost $25 so we're okay on the pricing...and that's without postage included....or tax??? These also have a really nice red trim on the peak as seen here....



If someone can come up with a better price over in the US then I'd be grateful....remember....embroidered logo and text on the front as we see here.....non-technical baseball cap.

Very sweet looking. I'll take one in black, although I'm a little concerned by the fact that they're for moderate to cold climates. I live in Borneo, it's never less that 75-85 degrees. I'm guessing the Arizona contingent might have a few problems with it too.

If we could find a fabric that works in hot weather too, it would be helpful. Either way, I'll take one in black, because my first ironman will be New Zealand and I'd just have to wear it and find the fellow ST'ers.

Gotta help a good cause too.

I did World's toughest Half last year and got one of these - it was the race shirt. They are excellent, technical tee-shirts that you can wear out on the trails or if you were just hanging around the house. They are technical, but don't look it. Probably a bit less $$ than the Craft base layers.

Been thinking about the charity issue.....some people have commented on how large organisations don't see all the money donated go to the cause.....good point.

So perhaps UNICEF are too huge....why not SAVE THE CHILDREN fund.

Just spoken to Alan Romick of www.headsweats.com and he has given me a fantastic price for technical race hats. They make the hats for the Ironman brand...say no more. Here's the deal: $5 per hat, including the embroidery of the logo for 300 hats minimum. The shipping would be about $50 to an address in the USA.

Special thanks to Chris Artibello of www.oomphsports.com for this contact. Oomph have also pledged support on the Tee-shirt front and are coming up with prices for us....so are Hincapie sports. I will post details when they come to me.

This makes each hat $5.17. When we add the postage cost and the cost of the packs to send them out in I think it'll come to $7 total per hat. So, if we add $10 for charity on each hat they would cost around $17 each!!!!! Great!!!!!!

The chosen charity for the hats is: CAF - the Challenged Athlete Foundation, as this is a favourite amongst many of you and also of the people who're doing the hats....this has helped for the price too!

As mentioned earlier, it could be the case that the caps quote has to be altered as it was for 300 caps. I am getting a quote from the same people www.headsweats.com (the guys who do the Ironman stuff) for 100 caps. The original quote was for embroidered logos....the next one is for heat transferring the logo onto the hat....more economical...and if we think about it, it will be less invasive on the wicking material than embroidery....yes, the cup is always half full for me.....

Here's the logo as it would appear on said cap....it's the 'race cap' - technical, sweat wicking.

In fact the break even point is approx. 163 caps, based on the numbers you've provided.

Therefore, you can get superior hats (IMO) without charging ST'ers more while tripling the potential charity revenue. This assumes that set-up charges are a wash and postage charges are covered directly as an add-on to the price.

I'm totally impressed with all you have done on this and the momentum you've generated so quickly.

A transfer or silkscreen on that hat really doesn't make sense. The embroidery costs would be minimal and would provide a substantially better product. I have some experience with both applications..

Don't worry....this is organised chaos....the 'orders' you have sent through, much to your annoyance perhaps are not real orders but we needed them to gauge interest....I said this some time ago in a post....the REAL orders will have to be made when we finally settle everything and Tibbs sets up a PayPal system....

If you want a shirt that is a comfortable T-shirt, that's the Leslie Jordan one - far right. The fabric is technical, the design is traditional. I like mine a lot.

I asked Hincapie about what sublimation meant, this is the answer:

Sublimation means that the ink is inside the fabric. This differs greatly from a screen printed t-shirt. When you screen print a t-shirt you "glue" a bunch of ink to the outside of the fabric. We sublimate the t-shirt and put the ink inside the actual fabric.

It's the same technology we use for cycling jerseys. compare your cycling jersey to a screen printed t-shirt and you will quickly see the extreme difference between the two.

The benefits of sublimation are enormous:
-You can go crazy with design, printing on any surface of the shirt with almost any pantone color, because there are no screens to set up.  We don't have specific printable areas on the shirt.  You can print the entire shirt if you want to. You can't have designs that cross the seams, but you have extreme flexibility in design. We print all the fabric before we assemble the shirt, so you can "go crazy", as you said.

-The ink will not crack over time, even if you print the entire shirts, because the ink is inside the fabric.  The shirts are very fade resistant and hold their colors nicely.
-You retain the performance properties of the fabric.  In our case, the Hincapie DryBody shirt will wick moisture in the printed areas.  This is great for athletes, but works well for non-athletes too.  Athletes are usually the only people in tune with fabric performance, but it's not hard to win over non-athletes with the comfort of a performance t-shirt.  Screen printed shirts are like sweat magnets under the screened areas, because the ink that is screened on doesn't let the fabric breathe like it should.
 
I will try to take a photo of a plain white t-shirt, but I don't understand why you need that.  We will make the shirt look exactly like your artwork. It will look like what you sent to me. We can also make something crazier if you want to. You can print anywhere on the shirt. We can do fades and background images. You can print the sleeves, collar, chest, belly...for the same price I quoted you!  No screen charges. No set up charges. It's pretty simple really.

Cervelo are going to send me images of their technical tee-shirt with our graphics placed on them (digitally for visual purposes).....their art department are graciously doing this for us. Nice one Cervelo.

I'll post as soon as possible. Oomph, by the way, seem to have the most votes so far....though it's only fair we wait on Craft and Cervelo before a final decision though.

I tell you what though.....the spirit of these companies is fantastic....none of them are projecting sour grapes if they don't get to do them....and you know what....we could be making a load of money for charity.....

so now my first post on this long and ever-changing topic....Gerard f-in rocks. I knew there was a reason I steer everyone and their brother toward Cervelo. Is there even another player in the market for the Tribe shirts? Underprices everyone and then gets rid of every "stumbling bolck" that there was.

Count me in for at least one shirt if it is coming from the Cervelo boys in Canada.

It seems the last pieces have fallen into place if Cervelo is the chosen supplier. And it seems hard to imagine another choice at this point. If so, perhaps a new thread should be started right after you have all the details squared away with Gerard. That post would provide information on the products, pricing, amount going to charity, how to place orders, AND WHEN TO EXPECT the Cervelo website to be ready to take orders.

How much extra would it cost to have my Peaceful Tribe shirt authograpghed by none other than MR. TIBBS himself?:)

Definitely count me in for 1 short-sleeve and 1 long-sleeve (at least). Not only is my P3 the best bike in my world and Cervelo the best bike company I've ever dealt with, but now Gerard goes and does this to increase my opinion of him and his company that much more.

Well, the Tech-Ts fit like regular tech-T, nothing gender-specific there. And the reason I picked the LCS as the race piece is that it is quite popular among women. It is not women-specific but I think about 20-30% of sales ofthat piece are to women.

Another reason why I ride two of your bikes.

I once was invited for Christmas dinner by the Rishworths (Dan Rishworth owns Endurosport and his parents took me in when I moved to Toronto). Dan's mother Pat had spent countless hours in the kitchen making the most fabulous dishes, especially the cake was a piece of art. She must have been working on that for the better part of a day. By the time I got there was only one thing to do; write on the cake. For some reason this task falls upon me. I take the icing bag and write Merry Chrismas. I haven't misspelled it since :-)

1) Since you are in Gibraltar, shipping to most slowtwitchers would be expensive. We can arrange shipping for you, we get some very good UPS rates

2) We are just finishing a new shopping cart system on our website, we can use that for the Peaceful Tribe apparel as well if you would like. It will accept PayPal and we can set up a separate PayPal account for this so it is completely transparent for everybody where the money for charity is.

3) As you know our banner ad is above the forum. We can run a Peaceful Tribe apparel banner instead of a Cervelo banner to keep people interested and to make sure we get as much money for the charity as possible.

4) Prices: I don’t have the final costing yet as I only heard about the Tribe apparel yesterday, but we can for sure do the following:
Short sleeve: $15 – sells for $30
Long sleeve: $18 – sells for $35
Long course singlet: $34 – sells for $75

100 singlets equals $4100 for charity. To give the drive a head-start I’ll personally buy the first Long course singlet for $500.

6) I noticed some other quotes included minimums and deposits, but I think it may be difficult for you to come up with either. So we will do no minimums and no deposit to make it easier...

I think Gerard just bitch-slapped all the other offers and sent them home crying. This isn't to say that I didn't like the Oomph/Hincapie designs, but he has raised the bar to a degree where I don't feel that any other manufacturer could, or would be willing to compete.

...not to get this post off-topic, but I've never heard that before. It might be...but the only time I've ever seen it used is when the Christ is taken out of the word to make it more secular.

I think that whilst you may be right I think the others have stepped up to the plate and gone out of their way to be of assistance which is rather good.

One thing about shopping on Gerards site. Can he ship internationally to Gibralta or the UK? and can he accept CC's from there? this is occasionally problematic online internationally.

That's not true. Although the word "Christ" in Greek does indeed start with an "X" (chi in Greek), the "X" by itself does not mean "Christ" -- it's just a single letter like in English and has no special meaning used like that (there are no abbreviations in Greek with the "X" signifying something, like Moto-X for Motocross, or X-Tal for Crystal in English).

Sunday 2:11pm in Europe....blue skies, crisp winds, blowing South-Easterly....rode 3 hours this morning......great rides over in Spain......checking in on comments on this......Cervelo is king....the decision has been made.

Coincidence that the corporate colours of Cervelo are our colours too.....go figure.....
