Is this a weight/aero thing? I'm pretty new to this sport and my last Olympic was 19mph at 145 watts. I'm pretty light at 130lbs/59kg too. Obviously I'm hoping to raise my FTP but the big numbers everyone has on this board seem so far away.

If you've never given a structured training plan a try it will rock your world. I'm a huge advocate of the Sufferfest plan on TrainerRoad. Best $10 / month I've ever spent. I've added +10 watts every month I've done it.

I'll also say that (as you implied) FTP / kg is a much better metric than just straight power. From that standpoint all of the 300 watt guys would love to have your weight.

IMO riding 4:50 on 175 watts would be pretty impressive, hell... riding 4:50 on any power and still being able to run is impressive. Hope you do well :)

I guess I need to lose some weight, lol. 173 would get me about a 6 hour ride.

* - in other words, my data is total crap. :)

Photo is late in the ride, I think after mile 90, so it's a "honest" picture after my neck is fatigued. For 70.3 I can hold the head a little tighter/lower when not in traffic.

I'd love to hear from others about this too! I'm about the same weight (~133), and my last 70.3 was 19.1 mph at 125 AP/134 NP (hilly race). I'm also a girl, to the extent it matters. I look at all of these huge numbers and wonder how insanely fast I could go if I could even average 150-160 watts (which I realize is way below the average reported here).

Very nice power/speed ratio. Mine is pretty good already but this gives me hope I can still do a little better. Which course, and do you have any photos of your position?

IMFL 2015 (pretty ideal conditions; smooth roads and light wind)

1.) Average Watts?
170 W AP / 175 NP 1.03 VI

2.) Average Speed in MPH?
22.49 mph (4:58:46 official time)

3.) Distance?
112 miles

4.) Rider Weight?
6'-2" , maybe 160 lbs

5.) Describe bike and wheels?
2013 Cervelo P5-6 size 56.
Zipp 808 FC front with 24mm Turbo Cotton / Zipp Super 9 rear with 26mm Turbo Cotton, latex tubes with sealant
Castelli T1 stealth top (with 2 tubes in the pockets - looks like they stick up more than I thought)

6.) Excuses?
Planned to ride 190 W but got out of the water absolutely drained and didn't start hitting watts until about mile 80.

7.) Picture
Would like to put elbows closer together but haven't figured out an aero way of doing it yet since I am on the innermost screws on the 3t bar.
Maybe I need a helmet that fits my position better?
Looking at my position from these pics, I may need to rotate my hips a little more and stretch out a bit more?

IMFL 2015

Agreed, pretty good conditions overall.

1. Avg Watts - 181W avg / 189 W NP, 1.04 VI

2. avg speed - 22.72 mph, 4:55:50

3. distance - 112 miles.

4. rider size - 5'8", 158 lbs

5. Specialized Shiv, medium. Zipp Super 9 CC rear/ 404 FC front. Conti GP 4000II 25r/23f with Latex Tubes (no sealant)
Gear - Pearl Izumi PRO aero bottom, Castelli T1 Stealth Top, Rudy Project Wingspan Helmet

6. Excuses - On an out and back section towards the end the wind flipped on me (us). I had a headwind going north and 1/2 of distance going south. Not a major wind though... just a few MPH
