Both of these guys, really. It’s impressive to see the level of respect they have for each other. It sure looked like Pogacar hit the gas when he saw that Vingegaard had a wobble. Which is totally legit racing.
But Venga waiting was also self-serving. It made Pogacar go back to the front and effectively neutralized a sketchy descent. Both of which are good for keeping a yellow jersey.
You hit the nail on the head. It is a move of respect, but one with which benefited Jonas no doubt.

I think the fat lady has sung for Tamu.... Vinga is definitely holding tight to the yellow and not giving an inch. Pogacar is running out of runway and I can't see him pulling back much time today.Great for the TdF that we're starting to ink a new chapter in the pantheon of great rivalries. With the dominance of Froome, it's been a while.
Edit: WOUOOOTT!

And sitting up and waiting is looking like a great move.

All and all, I think the boys stayed out late enjoying the grapes. They've been miserable all day.

Just two weeks ago Pogocar was superman and was going to make cycling boring.

Harken back to the flag drop. Wout attacks the peloton. Finished third on a brutal climbing stage. Insane.

I think second.
Wout has been insane. I would not have believed he could keep this up all Tour.

Have we ever seen yellow, white, and green finish 1-3 on a queen stage? :)
Re: **Spoilers** 2022 Cycling Thread [trail]

Nope. This has been a wild and enjoyable Tour.

Vinegaaard is great and I say this as a Dane. But wout, generational talent! 3rd on this stage how?
Wins green like it is nothing, could have had another stage win too

I hope we never get a GC Wout like some clamor for and he keeps racing the way he does.

Well that was anything but boring, these guys love to race! But it is over for Pogacar..... I have to think that Vingegaard has the yellow jersey in the bag .

Agreed. Although I think there's no way he could be a competitive GC guy just based on body type alone. Plus he has nothing to "prove" by trying to be a GC guy. Putting in a huge effort on a final climb when your finish line isn't the top and you've been in a breakaway is different than responding to the accelerations within the GC group all stage.

It looks like Venga was about 2 minutes and change off of the Riis record and ~30 seconds off of Armstrong's 36:19 in 2000.

Today was just impressive.
I had been wondering, although Venga had looked really good, was able to finish it off? Or, was last week just taking advantage of Pog's inevitable bad day.
He was legit super strong. His victory was not really threatened. And J-V built a great team, brought the exact right mix, and played their cards perfectly. To include allowing Wout all the freedom he wanted. He was still there all the right moments. To include coming back in Roubaix stage.
Oh, and MoFo may still win the ITT and Champs-Elysee. Haha.

2. Simon Geschke 64
3. Giulio Ciccone 61
4. Tadej Pogacar 61
5. Wout van Aert 59
6. Thibaut Pinot 52
Think there are 2 more points available on Stage 19.
And one more point on Sunday, right? So mathematically Jonas has it locked up?
