The cat was ok. It was alive and ran away

This reminds me of some of other threads I have seen and cannot be unseen.
Google "squirrel in bike spokes" - be warned the squirrels do not get off as lightly as the birds.

Yeah, I've seen those - most often, it looks like someone stuffed a grey sock in the spokes

While on the Ocean City Boardwalk on Saturday, I heard the tinkling of a bell above me

My first thought was 'A fucking seagull stole some poor kid's toy' [a fucking seagull had swiped half of my hoagie at lunchtime, and I was still kinda pissed about that]

I stopped to look, and there was a massive hawk coming to perch on a streetlamp; I figured the bell was some sort of falconry device? He wasn't up there long before he hopped back into the air, folded his wings back and dove like a missile at something in the dunes. I couldn't see what it was, as I tried to maneuver around the benches to get a better view

His head poked back up among the beach grass, and with a couple great flaps, he was up on the next streetlight over; standing proud, as he was now being harassed by some lowly crows

I was on my bike riding up a climb and a gentlemen was descending on an electric scooter in a skinsuit and aero helmet. It was very odd and confusing.

I used to do my long run very early on a Saturday morning, most of which was along an abandoned rail track through national park with lots of trees.

Usually had the place to myself but as I was running out I came across 2 blond women and a young stud muffin dressed like they were coming back from a nightclub except they were wearing wellingtons. There was another guy but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what was going on. Each to their own I thought.

On the way back about 90 mins later there were several police officers and all four were getting arrested. Apparently they had been using a fallen tree in front of the river to make a porn movie and the 4th guy was the camera man.

The almost exact opposite of the porno shoot, rather wholesome in fact - and not really weird, actually

Our neighborhood now has a #FreeLittleLibrary

I find that know you could get them pre-made

Considering where I live, I had a momentary thought of putting some "banned" books in there, but that would just piss off the parents and get the box taken away, and I wouldn't want to fuck over the kids

Many daft and weird things, but one new one that I don’t think is mentioned in the thread was someone watching me from the forest in the middle of nowhere.

I ride a lot at night and was out one Sunday in the pitch black up in the mountains here. I pass around a lake and through a small forest at probably the most remote point on the loop I was doing. My front light was on blink mode as it was a lot lighter in the open. Anyway, as I entered the forest I noticed something up ahead reflecting the blinking light and thought it looked like eyes. I activated constant beam and it was a pair of eyes, normally it’s an animal in the woods, but this time it was a person, part hidden behind a tree and just watching me cycle past. Strange location and strange event.

Weirdest thing I ever saw on the bike:

Was on a descent on a lonely small mountainous road in the lower Pyrenées, France. Weather was really hot, scenery made up out of red rocks, pine trees and dry grasses, riding in the middle of nowhere, just some goat, a car every half an hour and from time to time a small Mas (cottage). As I go though some S-curves on the descent, rather slowly to enjoy the landscape, all of a sudden I'm surrounded by two dozen of beautiful blonde, long-haired girls in Bikinis with a lot of silver an couloured bling-bling stuff walking in the middle of the road. Hard breaking, screaming an jumping and everyone was totally flashed. Thankfully no one got hurt, but the situation was so bizarre that I didn't get any Idea at first what to think of that... Looked a bit like the summer tour of the BDSM-Queens to be honest ;)

Turn out they were a big group of dutch girls going onto a canyoning tour - for which the place I went by was a first class spot as I learned later on. Since it was so hot they were in bikinis, carrying their neoprene and helmets in bags. the silver and bright colured bling-bling stuff turned out to be climbing equipment. When you knew, it was totally explainable, but when you out of total mountain loneliness all of a sudden rush into more than 20 half-naked girls it was quite stunning..:D We laughed a lot and talked a bit and the only thing that really upsets me is that I didn't think of asking them for a quick photo. That would have been one of the most ridiculous pics in my sports album...

Yesterday, I saw a lady emerge from the bay here in Melbourne after an early morning swim. Mid winter. 3 degrees C outside. In 10 degree (50F) water. In a g-string.

I saw one of the shit-box 1986 Mustangs, Targa top, with QQ = Historical plates

Like this one ... almost exactly

Ok, so it's old, it still runs, but is it really "Historical?" Only in a "WTF were Ford thinking?" kinda way

A broken stick, 18-24" long, pointy and sharp, split in such a way that one side was flat, with sort of an edge to it, the other side still round ... all with with a bicycle grip on the end

A clever weapon - could be used for poking or stabbing, maybe some lacerations, or blunt force trauma, but ... no splinters!!!

Today is trash day

Following the trash truck - on the opposite side of the street and not close enough to be in the "draft" of noxious stench - I spotted a barrel up ahead overflowing with what seemed to be pink plastic

Apparently, plastic flamingos are recyclable

I've never known anyone who had that many, nor anyone who's ever thrown one out

I really need to start taking my phone with me more often

This morning, while waiting for the stoplight, the car next to me had all sorts of somethings hanging from her rearview mirror

I've seen baby shoes, graduation tassels, dream-catchers, and so on, but never ... COVID Masks; about half a dozen, from cheap disposables up to KN-95s

Was on some trails in a park I'd never been in before and came upon a pickleball tournament; a fairly large one, it would appear

https://www.pickleballtournaments.com/...mentinfo.pl?tid=7081

I'd heard of pickleball*, seen it listed on ESPN and FOX, but have never observed it IRL

Seems like something poor kids with only ping pong paddles & Wiffle balls might've made up in an abandoned tennis court

But these fuckers were beyond serious

* when I worked in the office, my cellmate - an avid tennis player - deemed pickleball a "joke" and "abomination"; apparently there is tennis vs pickleball animosity [like squash vs racquetball, maybe?]

This probably the OPPOSITE of "Weirdest Thing You've Seen on a Run" but "Weirdest PLACE You've Seen a Runner While You Were NOT Running"

Dude in full UltraRunner gear (hydration vest/bottle belt, everything but poles) on Walnut Street in Philly near Rittenhouse Square at 5:00 on a Friday afternoon

Minus the vest, now I know what *I* looked liked when I was doing the same thing, at the same time

I even said so to D'Kid "Oh shit --- I used to do this; I was That Guy"

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America and Lebron James just bought a team. It’s probably going to go mainstream soon.

My wife and I love it as we find it a lot more playable than tennis as we’re not great tennis players. We still run and jump around a lot playing it so I feel I get a better workout than with tennis as a subpar player. The stereotypes of only the elderly playing it are outdated, it’s pretty evenly spread out by age now.

I do get why there’s animosity between tennis and pickleball but we try to stick to only pickleball courts if we can or otherwise not clog up the tennis courts when they’re busy.

Don´t remember if I was jogging or hiking but I found a van with a couple in their 50s naked, chatting and smoking somewhere they thought they could not be found. I think this is not so weird...who did not make that in his car? A van is much more confortable. LOL

I'm sure there is gonna be "Keep Pickleball WEIRD" movement

I've been more aware lately of pickleball showing up in commercials, on-hand comments on sports broadcasts, etc.

Yes, I saw this - Everyone looked very "country club,'" even the youngsters [proper shirts & shorts & tennis skirts]. But, what would they think if I showed up with a Minor Threat t-shirt, beat up VANS and a paddle with skulls on it?

This park had dedicated pickleball courts, with all the proper netting and lines - not repurposed tennis courts

I'm willing to be that if the couple in the van were naked, chatting & smoking, they were older than their 50s, maintaining their youth by virtue living life perfectly and not giving a fuck [besides giving fucks to each other]

I ran past the cemetery as I often do but saw no unusual activity; maybe tomorrow, when the spirits have to return to their graves before Dawn, after been out all Halloween night?

I find that it's creepier to run past the cemetery before dawn on Nov 1 than on Halloween, as you're more likely to see "someone" trying to get "back to bed" before the sun comes up

This morning was kinda foggy, and the shadows & mist may have been playing tricks on me - was that a shape I saw in the distance, that suddenly disappeared? Could've been just a large bird gliding by, an owl perhaps? They are bigger than you think and nearly silent

Or maybe one of those stupid wild turkeys, fucking with me?

I will admit having a feeling that I wasn't the only one nearby, yet I heard no other Runners out & about

A little spooky, but nothing like the Ghost Story I told a couple of years ago
