I was gonna say. Lionel would have had to collapse for that to happen. Man what a finish that would have been. Great race by Kanute and Long. Not surprised Lionel won. Smart race. Think he held back on the bike. Hansen ran out of road

The tracker did a pisspoor job, I kept getting ā€œno internetā€ messages during the run even though my connection was very good.

Watching Kanute Sprint passed Long at the finish would've been epic to watch live.

Musta been the timing system little error at the finish - maybe lead boyz came in a touch too fast?

Ironman has rarely had an event with any kind of coverage, where there is not a problem. Tracker coverage = tracker problems, Live feed = live feed problems. This is a pretty regular occurrence in my experience, pretty disappointing.

Ironman can't even get out of it's own way these days. Want an embarrassment. You had one job!

Kanute is one of those guys you don't want to end up in a sprint against. I seem to remember him doing something similar to win island house

I tried to post that @nokoastviuals (Kenny withrow) was live streaming the finish but it didn't go through šŸ˜¤ he had good interviews right after the finish. Looked like Ben got Sam by maybe 3 seconds.

Did he have a mechanical? It seems like his second bike split is way too slow...

My guess is one of the timing segments they went through too quick and weren't validating as 'finished' momentarily. Haven't seen course map, but it's very possible w that small segment near the end to have needed a tight margin on the minimum time to eliminate chance of a course cut.

do you think 70.3 will continue to have closer finishes going forward? The talent seems to be much better than even 3 years ago.

Where is the Pink? Ironman's one job was to make sure their tracker worked?

I think the sport is converging on 70.3 as the "favorite" distance for a lot of good reasons so you have more of the top talent racing it more often which is going to make things closer and more exciting.
