I would like to think I could handle myself if it came to blows but without any training perhaps I am being too optimistic.
If your up against someone with no training it’s all about awareness and luck. Athleticism helps too.
If your up against someone with some training you really don’t have much of a chance.
Put it this way, the more I learn about fighting the less I want to actually get into one. People have asked me what my “go to” moves would be to end a fight quickly. My answer is “here, I’ll show you...”, then I turn around and run away.
I deal with guys that will tie me in knots without much effort and many of them don’t look tough at all.
I know how to fight but there are always people who are better at it.

What type of training would you recommend for someone who wants to be able to disable an opponent as quickly as possible should a situation escalate to a physical confrontation?
Besides cardio so you can out run your opponent? Firearms training.
But for one on one “fights” with no weapons you’ll just have to get in the gym and wrestle, do jiu jitsu, judo, boxing, kickboxing (not that cardio kickboxing BS - sparring).
Any combat art where you regularly train against
uncooperative opponents, where you are sparring live (not pre-choreographed movements).
There is no short cut.
Don’t fall for Krav Maga or Aikido.
Start training. Put in the time. It’s really fun.
And you’ll never want to get into a real fight again...
PM me your location and I might be able to recommend a place to start.
