Like i said, what ever starky is, keinle is two minutes ahead of him or so. He will maybe have the record for about 1 to two minutes, provided that luke doesn't get it from him first. It will be like getting a record in heats in swimming, only to have it broken in the very next heat!! But seriously i think you have to finish this race in order for your split to count, so unless keinle does not finish, no one will have the record except him..

Unless of course he blows and does a 12 hour walk in and luke or starky beat that time. In that case they could technically say they held the ironman bike course record, for a brief time..

Van Lierde closing down on Kienle. It's Frederik's race to lose now I believe. Bockel 2+ minutes down on him, and the runners (Docherty, Bracht, Cunnama) almost 7 min down on Van Lierde. Alexander a further minute or two.
. Van Lierde only outran Kienle by 95sec last year. Going to be very interesting!

Monty,

Here are the men's splits through 90 miles:
1 4:13:51 49 Luke McKenzie AUS
2 4:14:02 0:12 52 Andrew Starykowicz USA
3 4:14:44 0:53 2 Sebastian Kienle DEU

Kienle is behind them - according to this.
Thanks, John

I wouldn't count Crowie out just yet, either....

Kienle was 3 minutes behind on the swim, so his bike split is still faster.

I don't want to sound like a complete idiot, but how would Rapp be tweeting this in the race? I heard Welch read that too, and I figured I misheard it or something.

Looked to me like the bike course record stands. I was way off on my earlier calculation. It looked like Starky came through around 5:14 race time and Kienle came through around 5:18 race time.

If I'm doing the math right, the predictor on the athlete tracker is predicting Josh is going to ride about a 4:24. Good God, the guy is fast!

How weird is it that the video is 10 minutes behind the text feeds. We are watching starky and all 3 front runners are already in to t2. No record today, looks like low 4;21's for he and keinle..

You can breath now norman!!!
