Not sure if this means anything, but Frederik Van Lierde has this pic on his Instagram with a P5 (not P5X) and logos that are pretty much invisible. https://www.instagram.com/...aken-by=frevanlierde

The sunlight makes it look like there is no logos. The Cervelo downtube logo is glossy. You will see Cervelo athletes switch between the P5 and P5-X depending on the course. Sarah Piampiano used to do this and others did too. The P5-X is a little heavier than a P5.

Maybe the move to Sunweb has meant they are consolidating their sponsorship a bit.

I kind of expect a new aero road bike and possibly TT bike within the next 6 to 18 months.

Not sure, I'd think if they are supplying equipment to Sunweb instead of Dimension Data it doesn't impact their sponsorship budget too much.

Bingo. In the simplest explanation, pro triathletes don't have large enough social media followings to help the sponsors sell their gear. The sponsors I've spoken with find a better investment with a passionate age grouper who posts all the time and the sponsor can give the AGer some discount codes and an "ambassadorship."

I was out on course yesterday taking pictures at Ironman Boulder and I have to say that the Ventum looks kind of meh in person. I saw a Tririg Omni out on course, which was kind of like a unicorn sighting. I saw a lot of Dimonds on course yesterday and they were generally he coolest looking on average. There was some guy with an aluminum (reflective) paint job on his Dimond, thing looked ridiculously cool. I think TJ may have won the beam bike battle, not only did they seemingly outnumber Ventums, but they looked exponentially cooler.

Ventum won the practicality game with their integrated hydration IMO. They need to do an update with a better fork and front end to improve the aero a bit, close that gap between their water bottle and the steerer with a bento, and provide for a flat kit somewhere (personally I’d knock off Trek’s “2 Pack” that never made it to production).

From what I have heard the relationship is going to be deeper than the Dimension data one.

They obviously have the deal with British cycling and other than the perhaps pooled R&D resources I am not totally sure on the cost benefit of the relationship. Most of the endurance track riders race for other teams off the track so the only exposure is the GB Track bike which is not sold and track is quite a limited market. Perhaps this relationship has help them fine some improvements they can bring to future road models. Which is why I wonder if new S and P models may appear soon.

Battling for Grand Tour wins would perhaps raise their exposure, but nothing like some new bikes rather than the odd refinement to help with that.

Tri wise the P5x is a great long course weapon but does offer enough over other bikes half it's price. I could pick up a canyon or a Trek Speed concept with decent storage options for much less, and not loose anything or one of Cervelo's other P bikes. So Cervelo either put there pro athletes on a race bike with quite a small comparitive market or one of their other bikes - which then people question what's wrong with the P5x.
