Kayaks sitting idle. Relatively fast swim times so far today. Thinking current is a non-issue.

Anyone have a spare medium wetsuit??? 😤😁 left mine back at home being convinced it would be non-wetsuit. Probably wouldn't have fit in carry on on airplane anyway (convincing myself here).

Also, it looks like the swim is around 3 min slower than usual based on the pro women. Lauren Brandon is usually as fast (or faster) than most pro men, and she swam 27:xx this morning.

Thanks, last question:

Will we be able to bring our bike and run water bottles the morning of and place bike shoes on the bike the morning of?

I hate not being able to warm up - it just seems like these races are geared towards the lowest ability level. And wetsuits... again, it seems they're playing it super safe.

Gear bags look like they should be assessable on race morning, so if you need to drop a bottle in your run bag etc should be ok. Same for bottles on bike and shoe placement. Just can't drop bags on race morning...they need them all lined up day before (today).

Bike is turned in with bags today from 2-6.
Put shoes, nutrition on it tomorrow.
Again, you can get to T2 bag, not T1.

very much appreciated.

My hotel neighbor says he was told we can't touch our run shoes the morning of, we can't do a swim warm up, and run bottle needs to be dropped off tonight.

I'll share with him your info and I'll bring my run bottle just in case today!

Did the women get to splash around before starting the swim, or dry start?

Guaranteed wetsuit swim for men?

YMMV. Saw 2-3 women AG access T1 bag before swim today. Though I wouldn't expect that to be allowed all the time, might just be a volunteer that didn't know.

For us who don't do flying mounts (last time I did I crashed and have quit doing it since. Blame it on old age :p), put shoes in T1 bag, carry them to bike?

No preswim. Wetsuit will be determined at 5 am tomorrow.
I asked after meeting and was told by Roch Frey we could get to T 2 bag

Best thing was a big dead fish right at swim finish. Some women swimming right over it.
Paddle board eventually moved it.

What was the water temp today? Im curious how close it was to the cutoff. Anyone see how many of the agegroup women had wetsuits versus swimskins? I wonder how many people left their wetsuits at home believing that there was no way this would be wetsuit legal.

Very few AG women went without wetsuit.
I asked about temp. A spectator said they "heard" it was 76.1. I did not see anything posted near start like they had previous days.

Good chance it won't be wetsuit legal for us. Gonna be warmer today than yesterday.

that would be interesting if they make it wetsuit legal. I'm guessing they will for safety. Hmmm

So, confirmed in person:

Can't "officially" access either t1 or t2 bags race day morning. Have to place run nutrition in run bag tonight. Can't access t2 bag run shoes in the morning. Women were not able to warm up for any of the three sports unless they brought 2nd pair of run shoes. Local Y is allowing free swim warmup in their pool.

Pretty stoked after seeing the women's race today. Weather is perfect and roads are perfectly challenging. Open up the damn and don't allow wetsuits and we're Gennari-approved!

Cannot believe wetsuits are allowed. This is supposed to be the World Championships for Gods sake.
Water temp is ideal for non-wetsuit swim.

+1, it sure felt warmer than 76 during the warm up swim.

I've also heard there is no swim warmup and the women riders were getting caught behind vehicles and almost getting clipped because the course isn't closed. Both of these conditions are ridiculous to not have on a championship course. Move it somewhere else if the venue can't support it.

What is the obsession in the US with not permitting swim warm ups. Everyone just jump in cold and thrash around., that will work out well.

Overall I thought it was a great venue, great course, and welcoming community.
