Thanks for the reply. You know if and where these can be bought seperately?

Also, do you have any idea if it would be hard to machine one yourself? Any quirky stuff that could be difficult to make or is it basically just a ring with the correct inner and outer diamter and some round or angled edges?

Thanks.

Just confirmed a Press Fit 30 bottom bracket is included with the P5 frameset. We'll update our web site to reflect that. Thanks!

Thanks styrrell, I got a Google translation into English and this is the one I was thinking of.

Are you near London, ON? Ever ride the track there?

I used to live in Detroit and rode on the Mike Walden track. I never made it up to London, but i always wanted to go to the Delhi track. Its tiny, more or less some guy made it in his backyard. I'm not sure I would actually have the guts to get on it.

Ok.....thats brilliant news, thanks Matto & Damon. The excitement is building Can't believe I have to wait until May!!!!!

Now excuse my lack of knowledge.......but with that pressfit 30 BB in place what Cranks/chainset can be fitted directly without adaptors. I'm not expecting an exhaustive list - but the choices appear at first glance are completely bewildering.

Will it be BBright only - I'd love to get the Rotor kit shown with the press images......but I'd rather save that sort of cash for fast wheels by using a mid range chainset.

Can I just "chuck on" an Ultegra. Or would that require me to remove the press fit 30 and start adding different BB's to accomodate?

Anyone chime in I'm totally lost.

Hi Hollywud,

With PF30 bearings in place any BBright crank fits:

  • Rotor 3D+
  • SRAM S900
  • SRAM "New" Red Quarq
  • various FSA BBright cranks (aluminum and carbon models).
For other crank options:

  • SRAM GXP: Buy the Enduro GXP adaptor through your Cervelo retailer (fits in the PF30 bearings)
  • Shimano & compatibles: Use the Rotor 46-24 bottom bracket instead of PF30
  • Campagnolo: Use Campy's BBright cups and any Ultra-Torque crank instead of PF30
More info at www.bbright.net under Supporting Brands

Remember most of the light weight and stiffness benefits of BBright accrue in the frame, so using other crank options is a viable choice.

Hi Damon,

Trying not to take too much of your precious time finishing the white paper, but do you know whether the complete P5 bikes (or at least the P5-Three (UCI legal) DA version) comes in seperate parts or some of the things are installed when the shop recieves it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi MTM,

Complete bikes are normally shipped partially assembled.
There is some variation depending on which part of the world the bike is made for.

Back to the white paper... ;-)

Hi Damon,

Thanks again in anticipation of another prompt reply!

With regards to seatpost length on the P5........frame size 51 ordered.

My current seat height (p4) is 72.3cm from centre BB to top of saddle. (give or take a micron) :-)

1. Will the seatpost provided with the size 51 frame facilitate this height (plus increases if required) giving consideration to minimum seatpost into frame insertions needed for safety & security.

2. Are there options to select a longer seatpost if required. I'm aware that frame size can effect the lengths of seatpost supplied.

Cheers

Brian.

Hi Holleewud,

Unlike our P2, P3 and P4, we're shipping just one post length with all the P5 sizes: the long one. This is part of our focus on making the P5 simpler as well as faster. Also, frame stack has gone up relative to the P3 and P4 by 24mm and with a level top tube that means the seat tube is also higher by about the same. Should work fine for your saddle height, but just to be sure let me check on this and get back to you.

Hi Damon

Would you be able to advise if the chain stays of the P5 are apart enough to accommodate the Lightweight Disc which is dished on the non-drive side (dished more than ordinary spoked wheels). The reason I ask is that my LW Disc could not fit one of my rigs as the chain stays curved in too much while on another, the chain stay had an integrated ANT+ antennae structure that is only a few mm clearance away from punching a hole into the disc. I guess this question is generic for other "dished" discs.

Cheers

The max saddle height on a 51cm P5 is 83 to 84cm depending on the height of the saddle, so you are well within the limits with your saddle height.

Hi Discover,

Nice disc! I don't have the data any more but I remember it's pretty aero too.

That said, we don't have the dimensions nor a sample of the Lightweight disc.
However I'd be shocked if it didn't fit with plenty of clearance.
After the P4 we're very careful now to give as much room for wheels as possible.
If you can give me a few key dimensions I can compare it to the P5.

Damon,

Quick question about the P5's 3T Aduro Aerobar set-up. Will the extensions and/or armrests be able to be angled up or down independently of the basebar? For instance, would it be possible to have a "hands up" or "praying mantis" type position with a horizontal basebar?

Thank you in advance,

Hi Kevin,

We've tested a few athletes in the wind tunnel and find angled arms are inconsistent, so to keep the Aduro simple (lighter, stiffer, stronger) we chose not to include angular adjustment of the extensions. That said, you can trim the tips or change the extensions to any 22.2mm diameter extensions you like, so you could probably get a little angling.
