you'd definitely have a great time. xantusia is an awesome place to kick back and do as much or as little training as you want. monty makes sure that everyone's well fed and here's hoping that emilio's back again for some out of this world margaritas. i'm a big time lurker and attended last year not knowing what to expect but the ladies are amazing (duh!!) and the camaraderie can't be beat. although you'd have a great time in scotland (ewan mcgregor - yum!!) you should give xantusia a shot. you won't be sorry.

Looks like the Devil Dog Du is a 5k/30k/5k duathlon all within Camp Pendleton. Link is here:

You can race alone or a 2 person relay.

It would be fun. I've done a 1/2 marathon at Area 43 (hilly!). BUT....you are talking about a 2.5 hour drive (one way).

aw, I'm getting so jealous that I can't go! but hey, being in China and doing an Ironman will be fun too :)

yeah, wow Caliman was back in 2004 right? it's been a while! I hear you're faster now ;)

p.s. I used to think Normann was hot until I saw him crying on national television. and that belly button tattoo doesn't quite do it for me. now Craig Alexander on the other hand....

more like a 90 minute drive each way. I live a couple of miles from base and door to door from my place to Dan's is 115 miles, highway the whole way.

I agree that it would be a neat idea if it was really convenient, but to fly all the way there, drive to Xantusia, get up super early to drive 2 hours to a race, race, and drive 2 hours back would be exhausting and a lot of travel. We'd be missing a lot of why we went to Xantusia, like the Devil's Punchbowl and that damned TT hill. (not to mention the dogs, hot tubs, and margaritas!)

race starts at 8:30, but you are right in that it would take up the better part of the morning and put a bit of a damper on things Friday night for those glas that are planning on racing.
