"1) Your 'motivation' should be deeper than money lost - your 'punishment' is the money lost. Instead, please consider that you'll ultimately have a better life if you can create your own VALUES ('motivation') as to why you truly need to get (and stay) fit.

Don't motivate your life on fear... motivate your life with QUALITY/VALUES."

Telling people what their motivation should be will never work. Instead, leaders find what will motivate each individual and cultivate it. That is what works.
btw, I think you are helping lots of people on here and I have learned much. Thanks.

For people that have web pages, we can create a link on their names to their web pages, like Jodi suggested.

I will definitely have points for weight loss, etc. I'll come up with a points list that we can discuss and edit ASAP

Points!

Daily (1 point each)

1) Cut out processed or refined foods: whole foods only: Fruits, veggies, meats (if you eat meats), fish, eggs, etc.
2) Ate 5-6 'meals' a day
3) Ate no processed sugar products, added sweetners, or sugar-sourced condiments (including honey, molasses, etc) as 'food'. (Your sugars can only be during your training - see #9). CHECKED ALL LABELS FOR 'High fructose corn syrup', sugar, etc.
4) Portion size no bigger than the palm (approx 1/2 c). (This doesn't count with salads).
5) Drank water as main liquid source
6) Maintained proper training/race nourishment and hydration, including broad-spectrum electrolytes according to sweat rate needs. Did not skimp on necessary carbs, gels, sports drinks during the important times before, during, after training.
7) Trained as normal - or better than normal. Checked my calorie expendature on http://www.stevenscreek.com/goodies/jcalories.html for enough calories to train and live.

Weekly: 1 point

1) 1x or less alcohol per WEEK

2) Less than 3 treat meals this week -

Weekly: 2 points

1) RECORDED ALL FOOD for at least 5-14 days to see eating patterns.

Weekly: 5 points

Lost weight if still above goal weight

Maintained weight once goal weight is achieved

Weekly: 2 points

Maintained weight if over goal weight

So...

Max points per day is 7

Max points per week is 7*7 =49 Plus a total of 9 bonus weekly points for: 2 or less treat meals (1), 1 or less alcohol drinks (1), journalling (2) and weight loss (5)

Total for a perfect week is 58

How is this? Should we deduct points for gaining weight? Is this too complicated?

This is great. I added a "date last weighed column", if that's cool.

Thanks again for doing this.

That is great! Maybe it is a good idea to deduct points for putting on weight but I am afraid that some people might try too hard.

ok, i have to ask this even though i think i know what the answer is going to be...how bad are whole wheat bagels for you? i love a bagel in the morning (yes, i have to break this habit), but are the ones that are fresh from the bagel store and whole wheat that bad?

I try to stay away from bagels for no other reason than they're high in calories (relatively). A large bagel can easily be 250 - 400 calories depending on where you get it. I'm also trying to cut back on the breads that I eat, so that's another reason to stay away. I love them on race day, but otherwise I try not to buy them.

How about using it as part of your "treat" meal?

Just added my name on wiki. Being accountable to the group should be added incentive. My only problem now is the jar of hersheys kisses on my desk... Talk me down!

Step away from the Hershey's kisses! Put them out of your reach. You can do this! Just think of how good you are going to feel once the sweets are out of your system. Trust me!

But I do like the "send them to swimfan" idea...

I'm in. Added myself and added a link to "recipes" in the sidebar.

Oh, and I love PBWiki. My wife and I have been using it to track expenses, vacations, etc. I used it for a while at work to keep track of projects and I'm trying to get my company to adopt something very similar.

A question about this: Cut out processed or refined foods: whole foods only: Fruits, veggies, meats (if you eat meats), fish, eggs, etc.

How would pasta salad fit into that? Is it considered processed? What about instant oatmeal (for example, Nature's Path Instant Flax 'n Oats or Apple Cionnamon). It's got a lot of fiber and 14g of sugar (38g total carb) in 190-200 cal/packet. Good, or bad?
