This is interesting as well because MVH mentioned yesterday that he would try his hardest not to let armstrong drop him... he "came here to hurt"... i'm sure he's getting that right now.

you're right, especially now that they're hitting the women's more often. even had a camera stay with Raelert so we saw exactly what happened, kicking himself frustration and all!

question:

Do you get a bigger gap on the rest of the field by pushing harder into a headwind or tailwind?

Probably in a headwind if you are significantly stronger than your comp...LAs pre-race interview made it sound like he planned on pushing the head and cross winds...

Well, it's also harder to gain time when your competition is fresher.

So, you surge, put them in the hurt box, and then surge again later and they can't respond....text book bike racing...not seen that often in tri

he's smokin it. I wonder how long he can hold that speed.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, covered in scars, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'hell yeah', what a ride.

Lance just made his move! dropped MVH

The commentator said that he started to hammer again when he got a headwind. Does anyone understand the strategy there?

You can get more of a gap against the wind (in a draft free race) if you're a really strong rider.

On a side note, Raelert is 2min back...MVH is 1min back...even if the gap doubles before the finish of the
bike, the race is far from over. Especially if Raelert pulls off a 1.09 run as he has done once or twice.

I agree. You shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition.

It depends on the wind. You wouldn't want to do that against a headwind, but if the wind is behind you it's OK.
