I was "accosted" by Iron Cowboy supporters today at the mouth of a canyon popular with cyclists and runners. They were handing out flyers and trying to get people to go to the "free event" to celebrate the IC. By the way they were playing up his 43rd "Ironman", I don't see them reminding people that elipticals, treadmills, bike trainers, etc. were used.

It's like a company where the marketing department starts pushing the limits outside claimable reality and the product lines/executives have to reign them in to not misrepresent. In this case if the supporters are misrepresenting things, the CEO of the shop can choose to ask them to represent the reality but he clearly is not. As I said, I respect the athleticism, but not the attention to detail on multiple other fronts.

Oh well, there is a race going on in France that ends on the same day. At least everyone who finishes that one will have done the distance, but we don't know what other outside assistance is going on over in France too. So maybe let's just enjoy the show at this point, be it the TdF or the xyx/50/50 IC mega endurance grind.

i already bought some. 3 L in fact. Chedraui, Puerto Adventuras. one of the smallest Chedrauis around as it is in a very small town.

No me outside of ST gives a shit about an elliptical or a draft pack or treadmill. It is only frustrated internet posters that care. People here need to realize they aren't always the most important in the world.

I don't want to sound completely naive - but wasn't he just using an IV for fluid & electrolyte replenishment - and if so wouldn't have just been a simple saline or sodium chloride IV? Something you can buy here for $15 a bag?

Not really sure how you didn't see the replies after mine discussing this point where a clinical researcher responded saying that he couldn't get IV's either or the response where someone else called bs then did some digging and edited their post and said that yes there is a national shortage. its not the solution that is in shortage, it is the bags. No you can not...at least 4 months ago you could not. These are medical devices, and regulated in the USA. When you start dealing with buying from overseas, you run into some purchasing difficulties. You can pay for a whole bunch, but I know firsthand that you can not get them in your lab in that kind of timeframe.

So you have them in your possession, and did not have a medical need for them? If this is the case, then can I contact you the next time we are in a pinch for some IV bags in the lab? In addition, I would also owe you an apology; as I could not get anyone to sell me even a single IV bag on a very short timeframe just 4 months ago here in the US. We had to make due with large volume syringes or many many vacutainers.

You cannot purchase these unless you have a prescription and have a licensed person administering them or you must be a doctor to purchase. You cannot buy IVs off the internet. Period.if a doctor bought these for him then that only proves my point about the unethical nature in which they were obtained and used. People in hospitals who legitimately need them for patients can't get them fast enough but they are being used by guys who are goofing off. Good stuff

I had no idea that the IC was expected to research, understand, and resolve the world's IV bag problems as part of his pursuit. If a bird has a shat on his bike will he also be expected to figure out how to solve avian bird flu?

I am outraged. He has clearly made it his mission to personally insult every individual WTC Ironman finisher, cutting corners on a HITS course to cruelly knock another age grouper from 36th place to 37th. And he's exercising too much, giving the chubby kids unrealistic expectations of health. He should be drawn and quartered. I'll be putting together an IC voodoo doll to exact my revenge tonight.
