LOVED the 800s. they felt amazing. I would love them even more if they were under 10... we've got a snow day today and I don't know if the pool will be open at lunchtime or not. If it is I'll swim again :D

You sure are pushing some serious yardage!

Me? I'm slacking off. I think I have to realize that at my age I need a little more recovery time. This morning's swim didn't feel much better than yesterday's. Last Saturday was a century ride to San Diego and I don't think I've come back from that yet. I cut yesterday's bike ride short 'cause the legs just didn't have it. Good thing, too - it started raining after I got back. Anyway...
500 w/u
400 IM kick
10 x 50 on 1:00 - all between :28 and :32
100 breaststroke kick
5 x 100 free at Ironman pace (form concentration) on 1:45 - all around 1:15

Another whopping 2000.

Proud member of FISHTWITCH: doing a bit more than fish exercise now.

Man, I wish I could do 100's on 1:15. Maybe if I had any decent type of push off the wall it would help.

Great! I had a fabulous 4K meters swim today - felt so smooth and ez!

300 swim, 200 IMdrills, 100 Kick warm up

5 X 200m swim - on 3:20 (held 3:00flat for each one)

400IM kick
400IM pull

10 X 100 swim - backstroke on 1:45 (held b/w 1:35 and 1:40s)

400 pull - work distance per stroke
200 ez backstroke/breastroke cool down

total 22,900m for the month (i shouldve done one more hundred to even it out)

I'm doubling today. My brother called last night and wants me to come home and swim with him this afternoon; he's tapering so the second one won't be long. By the end of the day, I should be able to hit my 70k goal... we'll see what I can do this morning. OFF TO THE POOL!!!!

Remember me, I am still in this thing. 1 swim per week is not going to get the job done!!

Anyway this morning I show up at Masters and am thrust back into threshold sets. Too early for my HR to get that high!! I made it through the sets and then during my cooldown of all things I push off the wall and suffer massive simultaneous cramps in both hamstrings! I immediately grab the lane line and pull myself back to the wall in embarassment as my lane mates swim on. Did I mention that my workout was only 2000 yards?!!!

haha lesson learned.....never take breaks from the pool, ever. Gills are good!
