My grandpop worked at Travelers and my dad worked in The Boat
I love the boat building! I pass it on the way to the hospital almost every day and will see it again in about an hour...

This morning was "harder". My legs felt heavy and both calves were thinking about giving out. :)
My run this morning was in -25C (-13F) weather. The cold for us has just started so this will get interesting.
I still have not done any doubles but would like to do one so I can take a day off. See how it goes.
I find it easier to do doubles once my "regular" run is above the minimum. A couple of things I've done in the past:
1. Slow down to a "crawl" on your regular runs. This will help to minimize the cumulative stress, and improve your ability to recover.
2. Extend a couple of runs a week to longer than the minimum, by 2-3 minutes each week. This may take 2-3 weeks to gain enough "ground". Once you can do a 30m run, you can do a 30m run + a 10m run (with the required 1 hr gap) as a double.
3. Take a day off anyway. Let your body catch up to the stress. Once you've recovered, you'll be better positioned for a double then next go 'round. 17 days in a row is a lot, esp when every run is your "max".
Once you can do a 30m run, that second 10m run isn't too much of a hurdle to get over...since, its only 1/3rd of your max. But, a second 20m run when your max is 20m means you are literally doubling your daily volume when you are already "tired".
some really, really excellent advice for those wanting to push the distances up safely during this challenge now that we've got a solid number of runs under our belt

Just out of curiosity... can I still register and log my runs on this website as well? I don't really like using Strava, so I'd have to file everything manually, but it might be fun to do so. If I'm caught being too late, shame on me of course! If I make it to the end of this challenge, I might 'officially' join next year!
Good luck to all you runners out there!
Yeah buddy, there should be a button to allow you to join the challenge. Just manually input all your data if not using Strava. It doesn't matter how far back you need to back date the activities. Welcome to the challenge and enjoy the gains!
so happy to see many new names and a lot of familiar ones on the board!!
I was not surprised to see bluestacks867 back on top...strong work!!

Thereās something really cool about running in the snow, I imagine out on that road the only noise is the crunch if your footsteps. I love Finland.
Iām relatively on track for myself but off-pace for 1 a day. Which is totally ok Iāve realized. If I donāt want you run, I donāt run, and Iām proving this only to myself so Iām feeling good about that.
I have also found that my pace has increased by about 1:00/mile since the challenge started, and I only had about two weeks of consistent running before that. HR is coming down too, so thatās good.
it is important to come to the realization that you don't have to run every day
that took a while to sink in for me when I started doing this challenge so many years ago
but it is so great to see what consistency does>>>>improved fitness!!
