Greene has been spewing vile hate about trans people for years. She actively spread lies about the Equality act. Newman put out a trans flag to show support for her child and the act. Green responds with more hate.

Perhaps I misunderstood your point but it is clear who the child is here.

Not trying to "both sides" this one. As above, I saw MTG's tweet yesterday and found it boorish and offensive. Then I saw Newman's tweet this morning and only then realized MTG was mimicking Newman.

That forced me to reconsider MTG's tweet. I still found it offensive. So what should I conclude of the tweet she was mimicking? I found that it was disappointing.

And like I said, Newman chose to wrestle with a pig. She got dirty. And the pig likes it.

I do not see how showing support for her child and the bill she was voting on today is wrestling with a pig.

People like Greene want to pretend that Trans people do not exist.

Fair. But she directed he show of support for her child at MTG, who has made herself well known for being offensive and willing to do and say anything. It was at best equal parts show of support and picking a fight with a "pig."

If it was a show of support only, she could have framed it was such in her tweet. Something like "I've put a transgender flag out in front of my office as a sign of solidary and support of the Equality Act" Instead, she decided to begin the wrestling when she tweeted this "Our neighbor, @RepMTG , tried to block the Equality Act because she believes prohibiting discrimination against trans Americans is “disgusting, immoral, and evil. Thought we’d put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door"

She clearly wanted to pick a fight on twitter with MTG. So MTG gave her one.

There are better ways to fight the good fight than doing so on Twitter if you are a Congressional Rep. No issue with Newman's point of view or her support of her child, but rather the forum and method she chose to do it.

To be clear, people like Greene want to pretend that Trans people do not exist. I have no problem with Newman reminding her that they do. Greene has been been spewing hateful lies about trans people for years. It is clear who "Picked the fight".

Newman stood up to a hatefully bully, good for her.

I understand transgender now is a touchy subject. Personally I don’t understand it. If people want to be transgender have at it. (I have some issues when it comes to sports not to bathrooms).

However, at this juncture in life being pro transgender is very different than be agnostic (which I am) which is also very different than being anti transgender.

If the words and actions taken dealt with other prosecuted groups in history, ones actions are totally fine and another person replicating those actions is not.

If I put out a flag saying “gays have rights” (even if I am rubbing it in your face) and someone else put out a confederate flag saying “real Patriots have rights” (and rubs it in my face) ones actions would be ok and one would not.

I don’t know why this is the case or why society treats things that way. But that’s just how it is.

If I say I am pro civil rights and you say you are pro Jim Crow laws even if we handle everything exactly the same. They are not equal actions.

She wasn't just showing support for her child; she was throwing it in MTG's face. She should expect MTG to respond in kind and to up the outrage factor. Doesn't make what MTG did right, but Newman could have simply put up the flag and then posted her support without implicating MTG at all.

Edit: Meh. Late to the party. I see your response above to a similar post. Point is well-taken, but did anyone really expect MTG not to respond the way she did? Just another opportunity to let her pander to the prejudices of her deplorable base. A better strategy would be to simply not invite her into the fray in the first place.

History has show that letting people pander to their prejudices is a good thing.

Southern Sheriffs turning dogs and water hoses on peaceful protestors and harassing kids trying to attend schools forced America to take a side in the civil rights era. Most chose the side of justice.

Hateful faux Christians spewing lies about gays forced people to pick a side. Americans overwhelmingly chose the side of love and equality.

The same choice is happening right now with trans people. It is a confusing topic but when one side is spewing hate and misinformation it makes it much easier to listen and understand the side preaching love and empathy.

No disagreement. Clearly Newman directed her support of the issue at MTG to get a reaction from MTG. She got one.

She stood up to a hateful bully in a manner that fed into the hateful bully responding gleefully.

I'd call that wrestling with a pig- where you get dirty and the pig likes it.

Suffer Well.

I think Scott Dworkin is a reliable source, but I can’t find that video post anywhere else. So, it’s authenticity is not firmly established in my mind. It’s totally in line with MTG’s conduct, though. It would be in character for her.

I was talking about the other sign being hung up -- the text has been changed. Not sure if that was what everyone else was talking about!

Ahhhh..yeah, that one was definitely a joke. I thought you were talking about the video in the post jmh first responded to. MTG shooting from the back of a pick-up talking about some made up dialogue to scare the ignorant into voting for dangerous people.

I was referring to the shooting video, not the sign video. But I agree that the one w/ the altered sign is definitely manipulated.

But it is hard to ignore when she is allowed access to the floor of the House. This past week she has made repeated (4) motions to adjourn debate on legislation forcing members to the well to cast votes. She is pissing off even her republican congress peoples ( the count is now up to 40 ) as they have voted down her motions.
To quote the young lady: "These are tactics I will definitely use, and I'll have more tactics to use. You see the difference in me is I'm not the one of those that gets in line and says 'Yes sir' and does what I'm told."

The leader of the Freedom Caucus, Jim Jordan remains supportive of Marjorie, while the leader of the minority, McCarthy is negotiating with the lead democrat Hoyer about how best to proceed.
