Sometime between 5:30 and 7:00 my kids start to rise and so begins the day of āfeed meā, āso and so punched meā, āIām hungryā, āso and so stole my toyā or āI have to peeā from the youngest who still canāt properly wipe herself. At that point itās get out of bed, drink some water and figure out what to do first. Most days I pull the covers over my head and hide to try to sleep a little longer, because I donāt think Iāve slept through the night in over 3 1/2 years. Itās a good night if I only have to tend to one of the kids overnight, sometimes itās 3/4 (nightmares, wet the bed, sing me more songs, whatās the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?). I get everyone sorted with breakfast, get on the treadmill, then do all the dishes from last night and this morning. Then itās snacks and lunches and laundry, naps, more snacks, dinner and bedtime. Rinse and repeat. Our kids wake up so damn early (usually between 5:30 and 6:00), that unless thereās a super special occasion, we donāt use alarm clocks. Not even when school is in session. Little rascals just wake up. Been 11+ years...
