Help me out. I want to summarize the dittohead talking points.

1 - Trump said those racist things because they have been really mean to him and deserved it.

2 - Even though every knows that the point of contention was implying that they were foreigners because they aren't white, lets focus on the distinction between "send" and "go."

3 - You shouldn't complain about your country, unless its 2016 and you are running for President.

4 - People who complained about the government before 2016 were called racists, which is technically true if a racist said some racist shit while complaining about the government. Either way, it definitely happened, like all the time, so no reason to actually defend this point.

Anything else?

Puppy must have you in a good mood. ;)

Yeah! Aside from the lack of sleep, she makes my very happy! ;-)

so she hasn't shit in her crate and flung it all over the floor and walls yet? That was the hidden talent of our Husky pup. It was awesome spraying the crate at 2am in February. Good girl was with us for 14 awesome years though.

She had one incident where she shit all over her crate blanket. Fortunately, nearly all of it was in the blanket.

But, this "impressed" me - I put her in her crate with a ball that holds dog food so she has to pick it out. She loves food. I thought that would make her happy and keep her occupied. She chewed up the food and spit it out, smearing it all over the metal bars in the crate door and all over the blanket and walls. It wasn't poo. It wasn't puke. It was barely chewed dog food spit out all over everything. That was fun ...

That is impressive passive/aggressive human training. I like it. When I tried to crate train our dog initially she didn’t screw around with pooping in the crate or even making a mess in the crate. She just ate the crate. Came home to find a goodly section all mangled and bent. Given enough time she would have made a hole big enough to slither out.

That was the end of crate training.

You aren’t concerned about anything unless it’s something a Dem says/does.

Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places ... Then come back and show us how it is done.

He's talking about how governments are run (policies) and to go back and fix it, AND THEN COME BACK and show us how it's done.

Yet, somehow you read it as, "Hey brown people, go back to your brown countries and never come back."

You are utterly missing what makes this racist. It's not whether he told them to leave, or not to come back, or called out their race. If you're focusing on that, you're focusing on the wrong thing, and the fact that you keep repeating the racist part of his line strongly suggests your views are not utterly dissimilar.

He told them to go back to where they're originally from. Three of the four of them are originally from here. They don't have other countries to go fix because they are from here. So where would he get the idea that even though they were born in this country, that they are actually from another country? By what reasoning does he surmise that they are not as American as every other citizen?

Trump is saying they are "other." They aren't from America, they're from somewhere else trying to tell "us" what to do. That's the issue.

My answer is yes.

To address the above poster.......if you take that literally.....yes. He's against the Chinese and other trade problems, wants more advantageous immigration policy with surrounding countries, and wants to reshape our role abroad in national security.

Taken in the way I'm pretty sure you and POTUS mean it.......it's a pretty vile and disgusting thing to divide a united populous under one flag as "not American" because they disagree with your ideology.

How many revolting communist, socialist, fascist dictatorial leaders can we think of that basically said "you don't agree with me, so you're not 'us'".......and acted on it?

Also, your opinion of "no" isn't well justified with the sentences after that. Just because someone wants to divide and conquer a populous by excluding dissenters from the republic doesn't make them racist........nor does it make them not racist.

The key I think a few of you forget is that he told US Citizens to go back to another country. He made a presumption based on race and religious affiliation about their countries of origin. So, he's batting 3 for 3 on both racist and Islamophobe and arguably xenophobe.

It's like the old "well, black people like watermelon and fried chicken". Or, white men can't jump or dance. She's Muslim so she must not be from America: 1. She's Latina so she must not be from America: 2. They share an idea I don't like that has origins from other countries and I'm attacking that (it isn't native): 3. For #3, it isn't that he (or you) don't like it. That's perfectly fine. It's the why that matters. He and some others seem to not like it because of where it comes from.

To get more in depth on #3, the xenophobia, it's usually related to bringing up the very old-school American political trick of the most repugnant forms of socialism and communism that can be found abroad. Then draw a parallel, however loose, to yoke a foe to the most repugnant example you can find. Usually a close neighbor like Cuba and conjuring up murderous images of Che and Castro and a truly socialist regime. Or other banana republics.

Not realizing whatsoever that the US has had a long history of quite a few programs that are quite socialist. Uhmmmm, social security? 1935. Medicare, 1965. Disaster relief, FEMA, 1979, trade unions since forever.

We've all got a little racism in us. It's all in how we react when we're confronted about it.

Went back and re-read the thread and see if someone had more to offer than pedantic interpretations or slung shit while being cognitively dissonant. Went back as well to see if anyone went personal and called an "other" a racist. The admission in your last line "we've all got a little....." came closest. I don't believe the poster responded, so I thought to bump this forward in the hope that the "others" (aka all) would read it. Thanks for taking the time and sharing.

Sounds an awful lot like the Trump isn't racist, he's just an idiot defense. What Trump said is not up for interpretation. Those attempting the spin cycle are better left alone. They are far too deep.

Omar was 10 when she got to the US and spent the four years before that in a refugee camp. She's as from "here" as any of us.

Right, "love it or leave it" vs. "go back to where you came from". The first is for someone who's criticism you reject but nonetheless must concede they are one of us, "go back to where you came from" is for the same but for people who you don't consider one of us, even though often they are.

Again, my experience is the latter has been a common racist refrain for decades, usually used for any black person who was critical in a way you didn't like. I mean why not just say "love it or leave it" like you would for the white person?

How do you not see the blatant racism in your own sentence?

THEY ARE NOT FROM THOSE COUNTRIES. THEY ARE NOT ORIGINALLY FROM THOSE COUNTRIES.

What "anyone without TDS could probably figure out" is that their ETHNICITIES are from those countries.

In one breath you're saying they are not American, and that their ethnicities should dictate that their priorities are to those of another country - all based on nothing but their race. How do you not see that?
