I think we need a ruling since this seems suspiciously close to banned material (and also a lame way to have a group event)

I'll second or third the vote for Denver. Come ya fuckers, we've got legal weed and legal shrooms (well almost legal). Not that I partake, but you'll need a designated driver.

I realize I brought up subjects that are better left to other forums.
I'm just trying to sell my location and show the options for activities.
We have an endless supply of local breweries, depending on the date, football, basketball or baseball.

Chicago has everything Denver can offer except legal shrooms and a lot more in a variety of sectors from the arts to the zzz's

Good idea for a thread. Post photos of what you think someone in the LR looks like.

Yeah- we should all go swim in the res instead (just avoid planning it for the big flush (first big rain of the season when all of the accumulated dog poop gets washed into it) or the month of August- and we might avoid it being closed for elevated bacteria levels). Pristine water I tell you!

Yeah, that was a very long time ago. :)

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

So, who is in Chicago, Kansas City of Denver? Step up and take charge.

Windywave would host, but, I don't think you can get Zima in kegs.

Also, we'd have to deal with the fucking birds.

denver is pretty great, and I'll bring some climbing gear if I can make it, hit up some easy sport crags for people to climb, which usually include good views and a nice hike.

Not if everything was downtown. The burbs ain't that much fun for a group event unless we did Ravinia.

Ya, Denver is pretty nice, but we have this to look at right out my back door, and only an hour from LA! If you got dropped into Dan's and my place blindfolded, the last place you would think you were at was LA county. A hidden gem in a pile of rocks.

We could meet up in Japan. They still sell Zima there.

Monty's place is not only in a really cool spot, it's already set up for a large group of folks. And the food is awesome. I did a camp there a few years ago and it was a great experience.

The best part was Monty describing his early Kona Ironman races - with the basket on the front of the bike with all the food.

On the downside, this is where I was first introduced to the LR, so there's that.

40 minutes outside of Denver, a little place called Evergreen. Also home to the best damn sprint triathlon.

Assuming that it fits my schedule, I'm in. But someone needs to make an executive decision on the location.

Denver works (I have family there). So does Chicago, because it's a cool place, and I want to go to a game at Wrigley. Monty's offer works too, as that's just a short drive for me. My guess is that lots of places will work for most of us. (But the last place should some race that we're not doing but will be stuck hanging around a bunch of uptight triathletes.)

But let's do this.

Maybe we should do a sort of final 4 vote, or more if others feel that some place is left out that most might like.
I think the pros and cons of each place has been hashed out enough, and we are all world travelers who know what we like, so lets keep the ball rolling:

So we have:

1. Denver
2. Chicago
3. Kansas City
4. Xantusia (Valyermo, LA county)

Any others we should give a shout out to?? So maybe pick your top 2 in order of your desire..Here's mine;

1. Xantusia
2. Denver

Then we can start throwing around some dates, which of course won't work for everyone, but with these types of things, nothing is ever going to be 100%..Actually be lucky to be 60%, I know, I have been doing this same exact thing for the Womens since 2005. But hey, if they can do it, we should be able to come up with some master compromise that suits the majority..Oh wait, this is the Lavender room, strike that..Lets go for 40%...

Chicago (the only place I could really go for the foreseeable future)

Lebanon Kansas

Out of the current crop I’d vote:
1. KC
2. Chicago

However, I will toss a dark horse out there. I joked early in the thread, but I reality I think Lake of the Ozarks would be pretty great.

-It’s generally regarded as one of the top 5 recreational lakes in the country
-centrally located. Like literally center mass of the USA
- something for everyone. Boating, skiing, swimming, golf, hiking, etc.
-socially diverse. You can take in on one boat ride “rustic” old school Ozark establishments and zima swilling hoity toity swim up infinity pool bar joints. And everything in between.
- water and boats. Rafting up and coving out is the best way to hang out with and get to know a group of people I’ve ever seen.
- a million different lodging options. Depending on the size of the group an 8bd 10ba house, multiple condos, resorts style hotel, cabin in the woods complete with 4 toothed hillbily neighbor. It’s all available.
-I have two spare bedrooms, two boats and a wave runner to donate to the cause. Although I probably won’t let any of you people drive the boats unsupervised, other than Slowguy, since he’s a pro.

Anyway, thought I’d pitch it for real at least. Best done June-end of September when the water is still warm.

I just finished watching that Netflix series, Ozark. Think it is set in this place you speak of? Seemed a little rednecky, not that there is anything wrong with that, where do you fly into, and then how far a drive?? Loved the series a lot by the way...

That is where the series is set. Like most, the series is noIt particularly realistic. There is plenty of redneck here. But also a crapton of folks running around in 500k+ boats that aren’t drug dealers. If you want redneck I can take you to redneck. If you want mimosas and couch service I can take you there too. The joints are only a few miles apart by water.

Logistics might be a concern. Fly into either KC or STL. The lake is about an equidistant 2.5 hours from each depending on where on the lake you go. The lake itself is upwards of 70 miles long so location makes a difference.

Picture yourself a kid again. . .
