Yeah, Herb fucked up but Lawler’s arm “went limp” and he may have gone out (but came back).

Bad stoppage in retrospect but it’s hard to fault him for his in the moment decision to stop the fight.

And yes, you can face choke someone to sleep. I’ve done it and it has been done to me.

Askren was a senior at Arrowhead H.S. when my son was a freshman at Franklin H.S. My son went to state as a freshman. Different weight class, but, everyone knew Askren. I remember seeing Askren win state. He was unreal.

I tentatively agree with you. I think he may have gone out briefly then recovered an instant before the stoppage.

I think at that moment it was a “good” stoppage but with the benefit of the replay we can see that it wasn’t.
