the swim team goes to Ft Lauderdale for 10 days over Christmas break for a training trip. I wonder if she has thought of how she'll cope with this. I have a feeling if they break up it will be right after that. If not then I give it until early spring. (Add me to the evil, awful, pessismistic this won't work out group)

Don't be too hard on yourself, I don't think you are being "evil", just realistic, and having been cast aside and compromised during her little romance. I think most of us realize from experience that this is one of those mad, crazy infatuations that happen at that age, and well, the generally almost never hang in for the long term. It's almost inevitable that will become disenchanted with each other and some point (I'm going with the 6-7 month range, BTW!) and POOF, it's over. I see him as the one bailing, too.

They probably have not had any fights yet. It's coming, and when it does, the shine will come off this gold-plated turd faster than I can run to bathroom after drinkin my Starbucks.

You too? It's like clockwork for me. About 45 minutes after I start drinking a cup of coffee, I'm head to bathroom for a nice sit down.

So I asked her tonight, "when are you guys getting engaged?"

"February."

"Really. Why February?"

"He wanted it to be closer to Christmas but I didn't want a ring right now because I'd have to take it on and off for swim practice and I don't want to lose it. So we're getting engaged in February when the season is over."

I still predict they break up after winter break when she comes back from her training trip.

Back to studying...

She actually KNOWS when he's going to ask her? Seems a bit odd, and maybe I'm old fashioned, but I wouldn't want to know. Isn't that part of the fun?

LovePugs, they were looking at rings together awhile ago so they have decided together they're getting engaged but he won't tell her the details of exactly when how and where he will propose.

I wish they'd post physics grades.

Anyway, today I actually got to talk with my roommate for longer than we have all year, I think. It was kind of like having a friend back :P even if all she talked about was Ryan This and Ryan That.

They had a Xmas card picture taken together and are sending them out. Is this weird? Right now it sounds like they're engaged minus the ring (that she'll get in Feb). I still think it's weird.

It was kind of nice to actually talk to her for longer than 5 minutes.

I checked my grades today to confirm that I got an A.

It's good that you actually got to talk to her today even if she only had him on her mind. Yes, it is weird because most older, more mature people don't move this quickly.

How did the rest of your finals go?

The rest of my finals were easy! I think I aced the one for General Medical Conditions and Disability in Sport. Just waiting for professors to post grades, which they tend to be notoriously slow about doing.

What are you taking next semester?

Physics II is the only thing that I'm taking. I'm taking it with the same professor and some of the same classmates. Unfortunately, my lab partner from this semester is also taking the class and let's just say that we had some extracurricular involvement together that ended.

gotcha

I am currently signed up for physics II, same professor which is good - I really did like the class - but I need to re-do my schedule now that I've decided I want to get a degree in secondary ed (see Lavendar room post) and may have to drop it. I have one semester left on my scholarship and have finished all my exercise science classes except my thesis, so I have a bunch of paid-for credits that I can use as I like. There are some exercise science classes I haven't taken that interest me - Biomechanics and Principles of Coaching (this one's at the same time as physics) but I need to talk to some people at the secondary ed teaching cert / degree programs and figure out what I could take now that would help toward that degree. The good thing is I want to teach math so I bet I'll get some math classes :-) and math is like physics, fun!!! I am happy that now that I'm not looking at PT school, I do not have to take abnormal psych. But physics II was another thing PT school wanted, so now it is not required... but I like it so might keep it. I will figure that out over break.

ok, I had woken up hungry but now that my "snack" (does 2 big muffins and an orange still count as a snack? my metabolism's been on LIGHT SPEED lately) is done I'm going back to bed.

Hey... since you've decided to go with Secondary Ed, I definitely think you should do biomechanics now. You'll find it interesting and you'll breeze through it because of your physics background.

Yes, I think I can definitely fit that class in. It will be T and Th 9:30-10:45, which is where abnormal psych was.

I haven't forgotten about your stuff - I promise - bet I can get it done as a Christmas present for you ;-)

Back for spring semester! cept it's not spring yet

They are still together.

He is spending the night because his car is in the shop. I have ok'ed this.

He got her a fish for a present. The fish is living in an Absolut Vodka bottle (filled with water though. And it has some rocks at the bottom). And he put a long-stemmed rose in it.

I do not think fish should live in Vodka bottles.

That is such a college guy present. Hilarious! I don't think the fish minds about her home as long as it is clean. They can't read and the definately can't read backwards :-)
