got more info on the structure of the races?

I'm an good/top B (pack fodder A) in crit city / Laguardia ~10mi races, but garbage with anything that has an uphill or is longer than 30-40 minutes... haha

It's a mix of everything -- next week, for A/B, is 2 laps of Richmond UCI. Then a TTT the following week, etc.

If you're permitted to race B (check your ZwiftPower profile!), that works. You can race UP. You can't race down. So if ZwiftPower says you're an A, thou shalt race A.

I would be interested in joining the A team but not sure if the team time zone would work for me. Typically I'm an East coast early workout guy. If there is a team around 4-5 AM I could make it work or possibly a late evening race could be bargained with the spousal unit.

Not sure I would be much use, my Zwift Power lists me as a C, but my recent rides have me more as a D (I'm probably a few weeks of bike focus from getting back to fitness where I could be anything except for a back marker in the C field)...

Few questions:

-do you know what events remain in the series (the WTRL website is a nightmare to navigate)?
-is this just for the mass-start races (as opposed to mass-start + TTT)?
-how seriously do you expect racers to adhere to the party line? On that note, who gets to set the tone for tactics and strategies?

I may be interested in the Cat-B time slot.

in the mean time, is there an explanation of how points are earned by teams? And where do I find the standings?

The part I really dislike about this is the whole promotion/relegation system, basically what's adopted by professional football in almost every country. Works for pros, but I'm not sure it's a good idea for amateurs. One only need to read about the travails of teams in the Premier League and Bundesliga to understand the pressure to stay in the top tier, and that's kinda too much for amateur e-racing.

Might be up for later seasons when the weather and daylight times shift. I'm mountain time, so I think its 1830 starts here which would fit my schedule if not exercising outside. Will race A or B. Currently a B in Zpower.

WTRL's own website appears to be down - at least for me - hopefully it'll all become clear once it's back up.

There appears to be lots of intermediate points. Our first race will be at Richmond, with 8 sprint lines, plus the finish line all in just 32.4K (for A and B). That's going to make it very much like a track points race. And make it very tactical. Not at all conducive to TT/tri steady-state power. Teams could send sacrificial sprinters to get the early points without caring much about getting back on. Having full numbers would be very important for being competitive - a lone wolf sprinter just sitting in until the end may not work out well (depending on who the points work when the site is back up).

Will likely need Discord or Zoom to coordinate what's going on during the race. Because with 9 sprint lines, any pre-race plan is likely to go to crap at first contact...

I hope they reveal the point tallies at check sprint point. May or may not be worth it to go for them.

In reality, f*** points races, man. I just can't handle those.

Also, good idea on the discord.

One other thing, they are doing a shyte job of presenting the results and standings. I took a look at the result from last week's race. Supposedly quite a few intermediate sprints, but I don't see any indication of bonuses given or points awarded. Just odd... Maybe the actual WTRL website has that info? Though I certainly couldn't find it on its mess of a website...

Cat C here willing to join. Got the email from Zwift but didn't know exactly what to do about a team. Website looks like it's down still so I can't see start times though.

I cant figure out how to join either. But would love to get on a team. Hurt and cant ride outside for reminder to 2020.

Just chiming in as an avid Zwift racer who's been doing these races.

Intermediate sprint / QOM results are NOT displayed in real time because they award points to the first 5 across each sprint finish line, not the actual fastest sprints. Each of those goes 5 deep - so if there is a small lead pack of 5 (unlikely), they will take all the sprint / KOM primes, even if someone farther back in the field takes the actual sprint out faster.

Final positions are then scored in descending order with the first 30 scoring "bonus" points - 40 points for 1st place, 35 for 2nd, 30 for 3rd, 27 for 4th, 26 for 5th, and downward. 30th place and below all get 1 point for finishing.

Then then add the final points and the sprint bonus points, rank the teams in that particular league, and award "Team" points for the week. 1st place team for the week gets 20 Team points, 2nd place team gets 19 Team points, and so on. THOSE are the points that carry week to week.

TTTs (every other week) are just scored based on team finish - 1st place gets 20, 2nd place gets 19, etc. No primes in those weeks.

This is a great league and WTRL is doing a phenomenal job with putting it together -- there are some kinks but an event this size is entirely unprecedented on Zwift.

If the Slowtwitch team ends up short on women or want to combine forces with another newer Zwift women's team that's mostly triathletes but is well established in this league and the Thursday TTT series, reach out to me as we've been making an effort to grow in this space and love having the triathlete angle.

Before the race, I actually placed the inner pot of a 8-qt instapot next to me, just in case. Fortunately, it didn't need to come to that, but I'm still knackered...

How long does the season go, and how late might you be accepting applications?

no smart trainer, but I have a quarq on order that's currently somewhere between San Francisco and the Canadian border. I'd be interested once I get that set up. I'm assuming that's acceptable in lieu of a smart trainer.

Oh boy, that's another one I hate. The gradients are steep, although i guess one has to eventually ride at threshold, as opposed to the triple power spikes in quick succession on the Richmond course.

I also hate any NYC course involving the KOM climb. I do decently at it, but on two occasions, I promptly got sick after racing on that course.

Sorry, I'm an idiot. Meant Libby Hill After Party. 5 laps on the flats, then only that one KOM as an uphill sprint. Means I actually have a shot at surviving.

The last race is December 15th - a TTT.

A Quarq should be fine. According to the rules even zPower (no power measurement at all) is OK, though zPower racers only get 1/2 points.

Not having a heartrate measurement also results in 1/2 points.

So everyone should try to have both, if possible. (assuming a goal is to be competitive with points).

On my end. About a minute into the race my avatar stopped with all metrics dropping to zero. I had to restart Zwift and everything reconnected. Very frustrating as I'm not sure what happened. Was riding for 30 minutes with no problem. Never lost metrics on my watch.

 Season 2 starts today and there are a few open spots on the Men’s A team. Races are Tuesdays at 7:45PM EST for the next 8 weeks, 5 road races and 3 team time trials. The races are hard and really fun so if you are interested let me know!
