guess Easter is not as much of a family holiday as I thought.

That's a really crappy thing to say. If you can't make it due to family commitments, then that's fine, but stop making assumptions about other people's lives that you know nothing about.

huh???

you all plan a training weekend on Easter. I am jewish know NOTHING about the holiday other than what friends/coworkers and the media tell me. I ASSUMED it was a family deal to have Easter dinner....

YOU planned a training weekend on Easter - what else can I assume other than Easter dinner not so important to be with family?

Passover is VERY much a family event - the seder is children oriented....It would not occur to me to make other plans on it.

I said have fun - stop trying to make me the bad guy

TriToy - don't know if you're purposefully being confrontational but to assume that because a training camp has been planned for the weekend of easter means that easter is not an important family holiday is a stretch. All of us on this forum are in different life stages and not all of us have family nearby to celebrate with, are in school, don't have children, aren't very religious, etc. I realize that the timing on this is not necessarily the best to those who celebrate either holiday but let's not turn this into a Jewish vs. Christian debate.

For the record, I'm Christian and my husband is Jewish and while both Passover and Easter are important to us neither of us live near family nor do we have children - as such, we won't really be celebrating either event.

you are calling in confrontational.
I just stated the facts and said have fun.

if you think that is confrontational perhaps you have some unresolved issues.

Clearly you aren't making any jabs at all (or being confrontational)

listen, tritoy, I respect you as a woman, an athlete, and a doctor, and as such refuse to be dragged - unresolved issues and all - into this petty arguement. Have fun!

just tired of being accused of things I NEVER SAID - so yeah I am going to call it out.

How am I the bad guy for pointing out that the weekend is on Passover and as it turns out Easter? or then questioning whether Easter is a traditional family time?

sheesh

Awesome! I'm putting it on my calendar right now! (of course, you know how things like, oh, I don't know, the JOB might get in the way ... but if I can make it, I'm there!)

Easter *is* a traditional family time for many people, but not everyone. Your posts sound very judgemental and I think you know it. Trying to be coy and wondering why everyone is getting upset is just silly. You are coming off as sounding very high and mighty because YOU are sacrificing your time to spend with your family, but everyone else going to this camp isn't. How awfully grand of you. Also, some of us celebrate Orthodox Easter, which is the weekend afterwards.

Then he'll think I've done something risky, thus requiring attendance at a "risk management meeting!" I'll just tell him I'm taking time to go ride my bike ...

Whoops. Sorry about that. Got side-tracked a bit.

I'm going to try very hard to make it next April for trip #4 (did I do my math right? It is #4, right?). Always a great time. Lots of fantastic people to ride, run and drink with. Beautiful spot to just sit back and relax. Lots of doggie love to go around too.

I'm in! The timing of the camp is good, it gives me something to shoot for all winter and I have sunshine to look forward to. Can't wait to see everybody and I look forward to meeting some new people too. If you are on the fence about this, do it! It's a great experience all around.

I'm 98% in too. Why break a streak?

For you womens considering it: it's a low key weekend with and emphasis on fun. There are great long or short rides/runs to go on and lots of time to chill out and relax. Even though I pretty much hate swimming, the trip to the beautiful outdoor pool is always fun!

Somehow I keep missing the swims cuz I'm having too much fun with the riding in that area. I will never get tired of riding a bike through those roads or running by Devil's Punchbowl.

I'm pretty sure I'll be there as well, depending on job stuff. It will be the perfect motivation to get through the rainy winter without fusing my ass to the couch...

Oh no - that pool is fantastic! Being able to swim in an outdoor pool in April - heaven! And just what's needed to help get through the rest of winter/spring.

Unfortunately I won't be there this year. :( My sister is getting married in Mexico about a week later so April is already pretty booked with travel as I'll be in Mexico for 6 days. But I will second that it is a great time. I went last year for the first time and was really glad I did so if anyone is on the fence I highly recommend it.
