Thanks. The 100 was on about 1:04 (for which I was chastised by my lanemate). The 50 was on a 0:26 or 0:27.

Probably toward the end of camp. He's still got a bunch of wetsuits to test.

Do email and bug him a bit about it though if you feel like it ;-)

Anyone have a serious year end/new year's swim workout planned? Mine is unspeakably huge (for me), so I won't even describe it here until it's in the books...

Since New Years Eve will be my last taste of alcohol until IM CDA (giving it up till after race) I plan on being so hung over on Jan 1st that I will most likely be splashing around in the round porcelain pool in the morning ;)

My last swim of the year will be tomorrow because the pools here are closed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Hmmm we'll have to think of something cool.

December 29 (3000 yards)
Is it still lap swim if they don't put the lane lines in? Or would indoor open water be a better term? Pool's only open for an hour and a half on New Year's Eve so I can't go too epic. Will have to give it some thought.

Warmup (1000 yards)
200 free
200 kick with fins
200 pull
200 drills (rotation, one-arm, fist, fingertip drag)
200 free

Main Set (2000 yards)
400 free
2x200 free
400 free
4x100 free
400 free

We are going to the pool. Brian told me we've got a lot of cycling coming up over the next two days so "don't kill yourself in the pool even though it's the last swim of the year for you." I'm pretty hypoglycemic so I'm not expecting anything spectacular anyway.

Ran 65 min this morning and rode 2:20. Plus half an hour or so walking, around to some shops and grocery-getting.

Yep. I haven't been in a pool since December 19. Can't find one open anywhere that allows day-passes. Looks like I'll have to wait until the 5th to get in the water again....

After tonight I'm alcohol free until after Timberman. I have a ton of weight to drop between now and then, and that is the easiest (although least fun) way to do it.

Happy New Years everyone, and I'll be back next Monday with a vengance.

875,000 yards (guessing ~70-75K/mo avg -- would've been 1,000,000 but I recall some off time from injury).

Pretty close, I bet you added up stuff from the spreadsheets ;-)

He guessed 1,248,025. I think he estimated an average per day and multiplied by 365.

Actual: 885,000 yds.

Hey Tigerchik,

Thanks for hosting the challenge. I do not have a swimming background, but have really been enjoying it this year. I set the goal at 80,000, which is well beyond anything I've ever done. I only needed 3,500 this morning to get there, but our masters group did 10,050 today! This has been fun.

Happy New Year!

Wed 12/31 (3,100 LCM)

Warmup (1,100m)
1 x 200 free
3 x 200 (50 kick, 100 IM, 50 kick)

3 x 100 (1:35, 1:25, 1:15)

Main Set (2,000m)
4 x 100 on 1:20
100 easy
3 x 100 on 1:25
100 easy
2 x 100 on 1:30
100 easy
1 x 100 on 1:35
100 easy
Goal of the first part of the main set was to hold at least 1:15s on the first round and then drop a couple of seconds off of each of the folling rounds as the bases are getting easier and you are getting more rest.

4 x 50 fly on 0:50
50 easy on 1:00
3 x 50 fly on 1:00
50 easy on 1:00
2 x 50 fly on 1:10
50 easy on 1:00
1 x 50 fly on 1:20
50 easy on 1:00
Goal is similar to the first part of the main set. Descend as the bases get easier and you are getting more rest.

1,500 Yards

250 Warm up Mixed
5x50 Easy Form
5x100 Tempo
5x50 on 1:00
250 Cool Down

I swam directly after an hour long spin class and I definitely felt the effect of it. I just kind of put my head down and got the yardage in.
