A 105, very nice!

I don't think I need any help really, just time to sit and study. But if I have any questions I'll ask :-)

this test covers...

tension forces
circular motion, centripetal acceleration
energy... momentum...
I think that's it. But it's 3 chapters, lots of stuff.

Yep, I got tension forces, energy, and momentum covered because I have a test tonight actually. Yeah, if you have questions, send me a PM. I'm just now relearning circular motion and centripetal acceleration.

What kind of a dude wants to stay over anyways? Shouldn't he just want to bang her & get on out to the bars with his buddies?

I would definitely never stay over if there was a roommate there. Unless I was doing them both.

Yeah, that was great :-)

Roommate called me this afternoon - am home for a dr's appt (shots! ouch!) and told me "I'm not mad at you anymore."

So now that she's talking to me again we can set some rules about guys staying over.

I need help staying AWAKE enough to study.

tried to study... fell asleep. Am home. Dad came up and woke me up. I got all excited, "is it dinner time?"

"Nope, you slept through dinner. Aren't you supposed to be studying not sleeping?"

sigh...

I've been an early bird since I was a baby, I never went through the teenage "sleep in" phase. I really do wake up before/near 4 ish without an alarm every day. Yes, it's very odd. But early morning is a great time to get stuff done, be it school or training stuffs.

Speaking of which, GOOD MORNING!

It went pretty well. There was one question I had no clue on, a whole bunch I looked at and went AAAAAA but then was able to work through, a whole bunch I knew how to do.

1 more exam this afternoon then this second round of exams is done (We have 3-4 prelims and a final in most classes).

I found the rules:

Here you go! If you need anything else or an ear to listen, my office is right across from the front desk!

Visitation and Guests
Students should feel as if they can welcome a guest to their room for a visit. However, prior to such a visit the resident should discuss time frame and expectations of such a guest with their roommate(s). No student can refuse to allow a roommate to have guests and then invite his/her friends to visit. A guest is defined as someone who does not live in the particular hall where they are visiting. A residence hall student from one hall is considered a guest in another hall. There are some simple guidelines to follow once roommates agree to a guest being in the room. First, no guest can remain in the student room for longer than 2 consecutive nights in any given week. A guest should not be here for two nights every week. Guests should be escorted through the halls by the host and are expected to follow all university/residence hall policies. Guests of the opposite sex should be using the appropriate restrooms or the public restrooms in the lobby of the residence halls

I am excited. She is not going to be happy, but she can deal. She can go to his place. I mean... I've been spending tonight in the library and union... because I don't want to go back to my room and deal with THEM. That's not how it's supposed to work, it's my room.

I have a feeling that this is going to turn into a big fight... but I can pull the RA in on my behalf if need be.

So apparently you were right on about the two night thing :-)

And you are right ...it is your room. You are paying for half of it, and you deserve a say in what goes on there. Don't let her tell you that you are being selfish/brat/insensitive to her needs. I basically lived at my parents' house my freshman year of college because I am just about the least confrontational person alive and didn't want to take a stand against my awful roomie.

On the plus side, if she gets really mad at you, she may start sleeping at his place full time :-D

I had emailed her the paragraph about the rule... I was asleep when she got back last night... with BF... she sent him home. Very respectful. We're friends again.

Tonight she told me, all gushy, "he told me he loves me and that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me." [They've been dating since school started so 2 mths].

I rolled my eyes (luckily was standing behind her so she didn't see) and asked "so are you engaged?"

Her honest reply: "not yet."

Their lovey dovey mushiness is making me sick...

yeah, I know. In the meantime they are feeding each other raw cookie dough and I think it is seriously going to make me vomit. You know how Calvin reacts in the Valentine comic strips? I feel like that.

Physics test: 66, screwed up 2 major problems by using a kinetic energy conservation equation when I needed to use a conservation of momentum equation - had written on both "conservation of momentum" and then copied the wrong freakin' equation. I appealed a multiple choice problem that I should get 3 pts back for - and they'll scale it 8-10 pts... so I'm at a 77-79. Class average was a 58 so that's good... I have an A in lab and an A in workshop/recitation and an A in homework (we do worksheets that reinforce concepts in recitation) so I should wind up with an A overall if I can keep it up. Now we're on rotational movement, angular momentum, radians and stuff.

I think they're going over to his place tonight, oooh please please please. He's certainly not staying here... PS I did not know it was possible to make such loud noises, just kissing, they are awful.

Ouch, that sucks. Hey, at least you are above the curve. I'm the curve buster in my class for sure and I get my test back either tonight or Wednesday. My teacher is not easy, but fair, and he doesn't try to trick you are anything like that. I think the class average is better this test because I taught about half the class some of the more difficult problems.

Do you guys get to have a "cheat sheet" for the equations or are you required to memorize them all?

Cheat sheet. They give you nothing - you can bring an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper with whatever you want written on it. Very smart on their part, forces students to think hmmmm what do I need for equations, constants , etc.

Of course it doesn't help when you know exactly how to do the problem, and copy the WRONG FREAKIN EQUATION. In this case the difference between a 77 and a 97...

Guess there's no chance they'd give you half points for proving you can do the equation properly with the right equation?

When I was taking Biomechanics the instructor would write all the possible physics equations on the board, then we would have to choose the right one for each problem. THANK GOD cuz there was no way I was going to memorize all that stuff. It was an easy A for me that way, but a definite course drop without.

I got one point on each one for having written down "conservation of momentum."

Biomechanics is a possible class option for me next semester. Worth it do you think? Kines/phys ed major, looking at physical therapy schools, have taken kinesiology, the undergrad and grad levels of exercise phys, what exactly do you learn in biomechanics anyway? Is it fun?

Am trying to balance the class load with time to work on the thesis. Handed in 10 pgs of writing of that today, got a bunch of bibliography annotations done -- ZING! Works better for me to research and write at the same time, the effect of which is that I have 30 pgs of thesis drafted right now... not just research.

Honestly, I learned nothing more than I love physics! Basically you are just taking physics and applying it to human movement. Necessary learning? Not for me. Not sure it would really do all that much for you either considering you already have a pretty fantastic understanding of human movement through sport. That said, it might be good to have on your scholastic resume considering which direction you are planning to go in. Oh, and it's sooooo easy (especially if you have a physics background, which I did not... I didn't even take math or a science in grade 12 hehe). Your background will fly you through it.

My class was super fun, but it was also the second time I had taken it. The first time I got stuck with an awful prof and couldn't understand what the hell he was talking about 99% of the time, so I dropped it a bad grade would show up on my records. The second time my prof was amazing and I was always pissed with myself if I got even 1 wrong on a test. Oh how a prof can change your learning.
