Glad to see someone else likes my top pick Dr. Strangelove... Probably watched all or parts of it five or six times in the past year. I also put The Searchers, Red River, Shane, The Man Who Can To Dinner, The Bishop's Wife, Saving Private Ryan, and The Best Years of Our Lives on my favorites list.

Jacob´s Ladder, now that´s a scary but excellent movie! How could I forget that one..? Tim Robbins is an outstanding actor and this is one of his best work
Thinking of Tim Robbins, what about Mystic River? And thinking about Mystic River, what about State of Grace with Sean Penn and Gary Oldman, two of our generations greatest actors!
And I just remember, how could I forget The Kingdom ( or "Riket" in Swedish/Danish). Anyone seen it? Very disturbing but brilliant""

A great movie that I don't think has been mentioned is True Romance with Christain Slater and Patricia Arquette. Think of a love story scripted by Quentin Tarantino.

I don't know what it is, but I'm a total scardycat. the original scream had me scared for well over a year...I lived by myself in college at the time, and had to walk around huge scary bushes to get to my door. The movie scared me to death!
What about flatliners? That was an intersting movie. Billy Mahoney with the hood up is terrifying!

1) 2001 a Space Odysse. Where are we from? where are we going? no trite wasted dialogue and amazing special effects for the era. Awesome.
2) Touching the Void. (IM just got easier)

Love all the mob movies mentioned
Loved Memento, Usual Suspects, 6th Sense for cool twists
Big fan of old WWII movies (Bridge over River Kwai, Guns of Navaronne, Great Escape) and some new ones (Private Ryan, Thin Red Line)
For silly teen humor, classics like Fast Times, Animal House, Airplane, and new ones like Not Another Teen Movie (seriously, if you like the genre that one is hard to beat - if you dont like the genre it may well be your worst movie ever), American Pie, Road Trip, throw Office Space in there too
Many more too...

"Stop Making Sense" - probably the greatest live show ever recorded. To add to the popular music/movie genre: Rude Boy with the Clash. Fantastic early live stuff.

A Room With a View
Tough to narrow the list--- so many have been mentioned already. So, at the risk of being repetitive, here are some that I like: Life of Brian, Diva, Lone Star, Waiting for Guffman, and Happy, Texas.
