I think it's time for some updates already!!!

Isn't there supposed to be live coverage from cameras on the bike course? I think it's time!

Jonny and Rapp are 5 and 6.

<<i guessed him 6min back of doe out of the water, so 4:12 back is a great swim for him. if he'd have been bale to hang onto that 51min pack... argh... >>

Agreed. Jordan's swim has gotten better and better, but he obviously had to do quite a bit solo, rather than in a nice pack like Jonnyo and his cohorts. That had to take a bit of extra oomph to be alone for a while.

It'll be interesting to see how he runs after this ride. Barring any mechanicals, I'm also thinking he'll have some sort of lead off the bike, but how much, and will it be enough to hold off the runners?

Was that a bad swim for Gordo?? I'm sure he'da preferred to be in the lead pack, or at least closer to it.
At least he appears to have had a group to swim with.

If Jonnyo can have a solid ride, and then a PB run, I think he's got a real shot at this!!!!

GOOOO RAPPSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOOOO JONNYO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are gonna show everyone get out of the water it seems. Being lean and mean must no longer be an Ironman requirement. I do not see how some of these folks can get through the bike and marathon.

Gordo's all about pacing and finishing strong; would he have liked to be with the front pack? Sure, but wouldn't we all? Watch for a blistering run and a close finish...

It would understandable if you could recognise people fro mthe pictures but it's pretty much a guess unless you know what they are wearing (under the black neoprene)!

Still, there's a race going on up the road!

Looks like a really tight pack with Jonny right now. Jordan is 3 minutes back from Jonny. Go Jonny and Rappstar!

Bike - 18 Km - McLean Creek Road
RACETIME: 01:46
MEN:
KIERAN DOE (#6) is in the lead, followed by:
* WOLFGANG GUEMBEL (#14) at 4:13
* MARKUS RESSLER (#32) at 4:45
* TORSTEN ABEL (#27) at 4:45
* JONATHAN CARON (#5) at 4:45
* JAMIE CLEVELAND (#2) at 4:56
* JORDAN RAPP (#62) at 8:15

Rappstar needs to catch up w/ Jonnyo and group, which given his bike power, aughta happen sooner rather than later.

He and Jonnyo are kickin' it so far!

They say Gordo can run down a 20 minute difference, thats huge.

We'll see. That all depends on who is leading at the end of the bike. I predict Jonny goes sub 3:00 today. What does everything think Rappstar can run?

Jonnyo has gone 3:04 (or thereabouts) I believe, so that'd take a 2:44 from Gordo to catch him
(assuming he got a 20 min gap overall by then end of the bike)

Hmmmmm, I'm not buying it.

Or, I wouldn't bet my $ on it anyway.

I just checked, it was 3:03.

I'm also thinking he goes sub 3 today, or at least matches his time from AZ.

Gordo's gonna come on strong on the run, but I think he'll give up too big a gap to fully close by the end.
I seem to remember him doing the same thing in his last IM race.

Please keep updating as often as possible.

I am driving through the Shanandoa Nat Forest. Sometimes I can get on ST for a second or two but not on Ironmanlive.com

Any updates are MUCH appreciated, I gotta see how all the ST guys are doing!

Thanks

Apparently not because I've seen quite a few "lean and mean" looking people coming out of the water waaay behind some of the "couch potato" looking people so far in the coverage.

Ok, this coverage is getting a little ridiculous. Do we really need to see people walk slowly out of the water every minute or so? I wonder if their live bike course coverage has hit some sort of hitch...

I agree, if it doesn't change up soon I'm going to head out for the bike I was putting off until later to catch some of the race coverage.

Dan got a quote on the text updates, which are currently rehashs of the course records:

Men’s: Chris Lieto 4:25:26- 2005
Women’s: JulieAnne White 4:59:01 1992
JulieAnne White won this race on two Occasions, 1990 and 1992. What is interesting, she was always considered a runner when she established this bike course record. White’s record has been untouched for 15 years. We will never forget that pink QR, "Zero Gravity" when she set the record, complete with pink Hed wheels. She rode it a month later to a pretty fast bike split, perhaps around 5:02, in Kona. It was a round-tubed steel bike. Dan Empfield recalls “A lot of course records were set on that model of bike, including Julieanne's bike course record on the old Auckland course at IMNZ a few months later, breaking Erin's record, as well as Jurgen Zack's Zofingen bike course record.”

This coverage leaves a lot to be desired, how hard is it to get updates every 30 mins, who wants to see someone walk across swim line in 2 hr's. Perhaps everyone at IM Live is at the "Bears Den" for breakfast.
