Pre work swim. I was not feeling the love this morning. Swam heard and felt fine on Tuesday, this morning, flat as a tack.

Endurance Set
W/U 400 (Free 100 3x(50 Drill, 50 Free))
M/S
2x800m @ Moderate Pace (Rest 20 seconds)
2x400m @ Slightly harder (Rest 20 seconds)
Normally here I'd do 4x200 at a harder pace, but, since I just wasn't feeling the grove, called it quits.
300 Cool Down
Total 3100 LCM

Not quite October but a milestone.

Last weekend I decided to go beast mode in the pool. I am training for my first 70.3 and for my long swim I decided to up things a notch. I did a 300m warm up and then did 3900m (2.4miles according to Google).

My very first attempt at the IronMan swim. I didn't look at my watch until I was done and my time was 1hr 10min!! I was grinning from ear to ear at that time. Plus I wasn't really that tired out at all. It was in a lap pool so no telling how it would translate to OWS, but still in the past 6 months or so thanks to watching some Total Immersion videos on YouTube and really focusing on form I have really started to see improvements in my times and my total effort. Gives me some hope of potentially cutting that to an hour swim at IMTX. Of course I have to finish Oilman 70.3 first and go from there, but it was just one of those great days you live for when you work out. Some days suck, some days are just going through the motions, but somedays you end up surprising yourself and it feels amazing! :)

Nice work. That's always a nice confidence boost.

Fun swim this morning at practice. I wore a wetsuit since I'll most likely be swimming in one on Sunday for a race.

WU- 300 free, 200 wheelbarrow (1 person swims, 1 person holds their feet and kicks--it sucks), 300 pull, 200 wheelbarrow switch, 100dr
MS- 5x500 drafting descend-- 5 to a lane and each swimmer has to lead 1 of the 500s.

HS, how are you doing on the FLOG ? I need 242 miles by the end of the year to get a swimsuit... I really want a swimsuit!

8 mi run + 2500 yds this morning

100, 200, 300, 200, 100 w/u with 50 kick after each
250 kick
6 x 100 on 1:50 desc 1:25 to 1:17
500 c/d alt stroke, free by length

I am going to try and keep more stroke stuff in, backstroke in particular, to keep my shoulders from hunching forward... they already are a bit...

Ha! I just happen to glance at ST... there you are!
My dear TC, you're gonna need to do nearly 5000 yards daily to make it.
I have 120 miles to go ~2500 per day to wrap it up. I'm skirting the edge with my 2200-2300 per day and this weekend will be short with a swim meet Sunday and another later in the month. I'll pick it some here and there, where I can. Oh and I'll need to do a birthday swim this month... something that works with (OMG!!) 58.
(Eric just went over the 1000 mile mark!! Congrats Eric!)

Way to 'bring it home', H/S. 500 miles for the suit. 385 miles swam. 115 miles to go.... That's 184,640 meters. There is 12.5 weeks left in the year. So, I need to swim 14,771 meters a week. If I swim 4 times a week, that's 3,693m per workout. Quite doable. But. So much for ramping off from swimming in my IM training... (and picking up more 'run'). All for a $30 cheapo swimsuit? (I doubt there it's a fancy suit) :-) ....Maybe I'll just see if it happens. If there was a tech suit on the line, that would be another thing.

Hey AntonBP!

Today was similar to Monday, minus the 50's- feeling pretty wiped out, haven't slept well this week with my divorce hearing next week. Kind of died on the last set of 100s.

WU: 800 free, 200 kick, 200 pull, 300 drill
MS: 10x100 on 1:30- held 1:10 avg, had one 1:08 and one 1:09 in there, one 1:11 for first rep
200 easy pull
5x100 on 2:00 fast- 1:07, 1:06, 1:07, 1:08, 1:08 (died on those last few)
CD: 300 paddles and buoy
Total: 3500 scy

Think I will run tomorrow long and slow, not sure if I'm going to do swimming. Yesterday was easy, 5x500 aerobic at 1:20 pace leaving on 0:30 rest.

Yeah, the ad in USMS magazine for 'Go The Distance' shows their wicked tech suit, but they're not handing those out (false advertising?) A couple months ago, I ran up big yardage, so I don't have to push too hard now to hit the 500. But I am right on the edge of keeping pace, so I thought I'd pad it a bit today and swam some crap yardage:

500s
5x100 various kicks
10x100 alt fr@1:45;br@2:00 fr 1:10~1:04
5x[50brk/50frk/50brk/50fr] (garbage yardage)

3000 sc yardages

I'll get in the 3k (& maybe the 6k) postal sometime soon, too. That'll help.

GREAT PIC!

11 mi run easy + 1600 yd swim
I did 1500 straight (500 splits 7:25, 7:05, 6:50) then 25 kick and 75 back. Too bad I had to get out and go to class because my backstroke felt really good.

Perfect! Swim accountability. Me like.

Pre-work swim today. just over 1.6 miles in the pond at ~1:27/100yds (just over 41'). Started at 1:35 for the first ~400yds to warm up and then accelerated throughout the swim.

Glub glub!

Easy swim today in prep for tomorrow's BIG swim meet.
I'm gonna try to get under 20 for the 1500m. I did 20:19 in LCM a bit back.
And then I have the 200 breast. This will hurt more than the 1500. I seeded myself at 2:50. That's gonna be a hard time for me to make - I did 1:22 for 100LCM.

Is pink BIG sarcastic?
I am looking at a meet in the middle of November to swim a 1650... would also like sub 20 but not sure if I can get myself into that sort of shape so quickly.

Today: 1h45 on the stairmaster (it's a no run day ;-) then 3000 yds:

300 w/u
20 x 100 on 1:30 (avg 1:17)
400 alt back, kick by 100
300 c/d

Rather pleased.

Swim fast tomorrow!

Yeah, huge turnout for this meet:
Totals of all ages M/F
11 entries in the 1500
16 in the 200 breast
46 in the 100 free
25 in the 100 breast

97 total swimmers have entered

Gerard Van Hoffman entered, so I likely won't be getting first in the breaststroke events considering he's a past National Champion.
