Got a meet this weekend, first of the season :) I'm debating whether I want to do a 3 day mini-taper and/or shave down, since my next meet won't be til January...

that's what I'm leaning towards, just that it's my last meet before I age up and I have a shot at a few provincial records.

Thanks for starting it, TC. My sciatica got nasty with me. I went to Emergency because I couldn't even walk. They gave me a shot in each butt cheek - one a steroid and one an antiinflamitory. Then they gave me some pills to stop the nausea that comes from the one of the shots and also a valium and something else, then a prescription for that steroid pack where you take six on day one, 5 then 4 etc. I'm on all that plus I took 800mg ibuprofen. I can walk now, but getting to a standing position is really painful. Working every angle I can to get in to see my surgeon sooner than my 17th appointment. So far, no luck. November swimming will be quite minimal for me.

I'll jump in since it's the beginning of the month!

No swimming over the weekend - just a trainer workout and trail run.

I'm pretty bad at making up my own workouts, will look to steal idea from you guys. Tuesday and Thursday's are masters for me - and I aim to swim MWF as well on my own.

yup, that's the one. zenmaster28 is coming down from PEI as well.

I wanted to do the 100 free as well, but it's sandwiched between the 50 fly and the 400 free. There is another meet in Moncton Dec 13th, but I can't make it to that one.

Swam yesterday morning

300 choice
6x50 build on 60s
8x25 all out on 60s
200 pull
3x
{4x75 hard on 1:30
300 long and strong with 30s rest}
300 choice

75s were in the 53-54s range, 300s were just under 4:00. The 8x25 all out always wears me out.

Does anybody else's stroke feel completely out of whack after 3-4 days off? Maybe I have terrible muscle memory, but I feel like I'm flopping around like a wounded bird if I spend more than a few days out of the water.

Long, easy and boring 6000yds last night to get the stroke back again. Still felt a little off this AM:

900 warm up (600 fins, 3x100 ba/fr @ 1:25)
12 X 25 @:30 3x[2 fast breakouts, 1 ez, 1 fast]

5 X 100 @1:30 – desc #1-5
5 X 100 @1:40 – best avg (1:07s)
100 easy @ 2:00
4 X 100 @1:25 – desc #1-4
4 X 100 @1:35 – best avg (1:06s)
100 easy @ 2:00
3 X 100 @1:25 – paddles
3 X 100 @1:15 (1:10, 1:10, 1:05)
200 CD
4,000 yds total

Mine definitely does! For the first time in my 2 years of swimming, I've been getting 5 days a week in for the last 6 weeks. I know that if I missed more than 2 days in a row I'd feel out of whack!

100 swim, 100 kick, 200 pull, 100 swim
6 x 75 as dolphin kick/back/free (:15 rest)
400 Swim on 6:30 (5:35)
2 x 200 pull on 3:15 (2:42, 2:41)
4 x 50 build on :45
2 x 200 pull on 3:15 (2:43, 2:43)
400 Swim on 6:30 (5:31)
250 c/d

3000 scy

2600SCM this morning. Main set was 10 x 150, odds 50 fast / 50 cruise / 50 fast, evens all at T-pace. Felt sluggish the whole time, something was just off.
