I am not sure if you know the history behind Lynskey, but they created Litespeed.

You apparently dug deeper than I did...

I've had my Lynskey tri bike for over 10 years. I still love it.
The mill finish looks sweet.

I'm between brushed and industrial mill for the finish, however.I got my Sportive back in 2011 - i ask them to send it without the decals applied. i spent a bunch of hours over a few days polishing the frame - didnt quite get it to full mirror polish but a got a very satisfying shine that looks a lot nicer than the standard brushed finish.
I am actually in the process of selling the Sportive - i will likely get a GR300 gravel bike as well. I am gonna miss it, though - hell of a bike. Smooth and surprisingly fast (did my best solo 100km of 2'53" on this bike).

They are both pretty easily touched up if you scratch the frame. Just don't get the basic satin finish.
Have you considered buying a frameset and doing a custom build yourself?

I have but given the discounts Lynskey typically is having I'm not sure how much more economical it would be. Any thoughts?

Very timely thread as I just started looking at gravel/adventure bikes this month. I started cheap since I already have 4 bikes in the stable but gravitated to the Trek Checkpoint SL6 for roughly $3800. Then I started thinking about Ti since I've always been intrigued by them. The Lynsky GR 300 fits the bill for me. From other threads, people really seem to like Moots, but if I could get even a quarter of the price of the build I just did on their site I could get the bike cheaper than the Trek which uses its OCLV 500 carbon lay-up.
But I agree with you that it doesn't seem like a good time to be making a fun purchase.

Instead of the basic bike that Lynskey offers with a SRAM Rival 22 group and cheap wheels, bar, stem, seatpost, and saddle, you could get a Shimano Ultegra R8020 group for about $900 from Merlin Cycles and upgrade everything else.

Or you could just build it with a GRX810 2x for $575. And then get 35% off that.
I fail to see the savings.

Why just the base package? Seems like short coin to upgrade...
'Course, I say that and yet sit here without pulling the trigger myself yet, so...

All of the upgrade packages are overpriced even with 35% off.

The base model is at the end of my strict budget and, if it shifts, it is good enough for me. I don't plan to be winning any races anytime soon. I also have to have some coin for a ring in the not too distant future :)
I would suggest buying the frameset and building it with a Shimano 7020 group.

Ok, so I'm slow, but I think I'm starting to follow. The way I spec'd my build, total came to right at 4k with the 35% discount.
If I bought everything separate:
- GR Race, brushed finish and anodized graphics w/ 35% off: $2034
- GRX 810 1x full groupset: ~$900
- Industry Nine wheels (as spec'd in build): $1225
So that totals about $4150. And I'd still need bars, plus some bike tools - although anything special my buddy probably has and I could get him to bring them (and his knowledge) over for food and beer.
Granted, I'm sure things could be procured for less, but I simply don't have the time or knowledge to do it. For essentially a wash in price, I'd rather have it factory built with a warranty. But that's just me; YMMV.
But thanks - that was actually kinda fun. I can honestly see how searching for even better deals could be a whole lotta fun, especially with potentially time on people's hands over the next few weeks!

The Shimano GRX 1x11 group is currently on sale at Merlin.
My opinion is that the Industry Nine wheels at $1,275 are overpriced. There are other aluminum and carbon rimmed options that are less expensive.
The lifetime warranty on the frame applies no matter who builds the bike.

Merlin is where I got the price, I just rounded up. $836, I think it was?
I'd more than likely go with a different wheel if building myself. But what... not really sure.

Merlin has an extra 10% off right now which brings the Shimano GRX 1x11 group down to $753.

Lynskey's sales program is direct to consumer, but they offered me lower prices so that I could make some money selling to my customers. Hence, "dealer".
Lynskey has been making all their frames in Tennessee since 1986.

Well I'm glad to say I haven't been persuaded to pull the trigger in recent days, yourself?
Wait a month or two and watch the prices plummet.
