I just got an unofficial 1;27 gap from Lucy to Anne at that turnaround. I think Anne is either slowing down, or Lucy is picking up, as that is not much different from a couple miles ago..

Sedaro is thorough at every aid station which says to me she’s running confident, not scared.

Looks like she’s in Vaporflys. May not see anybody on the podium in Hoka’s.

Class from Frodeno! Wonder it we'll see topless men with T shirts being waved about by Iden and Blu at some point?

If she pulls it off, Sodaro would be the biggest shock winner since....?

Help me out.

There are a lot of people with opinions on commentating that I strongly suspect have never done a multi-hour broadcast in live time before. I have done sports commentating and had a job as a television news anchor for a while. You have no idea how hard it is to keep things going for a hours on hours. No, silence is never an answer in broadcasting. A producer would lose their mind if the commentators were quiet for 30 seconds. They would be replaced by the next broadcast. Silence is a killer in live television.

Does anyone know what pace Sodaro is on? It’s hard to tell from the tracker. Low/ mid 2:50s?

TriRating had her coming in 7th place.

She swam 3 mins faster, which allowed her to bike with a better group and not have to push as much, which is allowing her to run amazingly well. Add in a bunch of drafting penalties and here we are.

but probably biggest surprise since Erin Baker in 1990.

Does Haug catch Lucy? She continued to make steady gains. I think the top 3 are definitely set with the next athletes 6 minutes back from 3rd

They’re not showing her much, but when they do, Daniela looks bad. Something’s painful.

based on her 18.9 mile split of 2:00:27, that pace would be a 2:47

Silence is a killer? Really? I quite like listening to british commentators who will often go quiet for 20 seconds etc just letting the pictures tell the story. This is in running and cycling. To me, the timing of those silences seems quite professional. I guess they are professional commentators though.

Whereas these ironman commentators just don't shut up. Not sure if it is an american thing?

If she wins she won the race on the bike.
