All,
After a summer of watching me go out for longer and longer rides, my wife has realized that she really misses cycling and would like to get out there and ride. I'd like to get her a road bike, hopefully before we go on vacation at the end of next week, so she can enjoy it at the end of the summer and into the fall.
We went to a few of the bike shops that I normally frequent in the city, and the lowest-end road bikes they have are Specialized and Trek models that start at around $750. I was hoping to get a relatively well made aluminum frame bike with sora-class components for something in the $400-$500 range. She's probably a 50 or 52 cm standover height.
Am I asking too much (or willing to spend too little)? I'd like her to have a decent bike so she can be successful and enjoy the experience, but she's going to be a weekend rider and the money isn't exactly in the budget.
Any suggestions?
Lee
