Is the men's race for first place over?

Not sure Lange can make up 14mn and catch Ditlev...?
Even if Lange run 2:35, Ditlev would need to run 2:50 and he ran 2:40 in Texas not so long ago
Yes: Ditlev just has to run steady: sub 2:50 will see it done, and he's shown he can run that (albeit with a 7 minute rest close to the end of the bike).
Lange will want to run sub-2:40 as validation towards Kona, but he's running for second. I think he'll catch Kallin (who might rune low 2:50s.
I'd be impressed if Long can run sub-2:50, though after that slow bike maybe that'll help. He's unlikely to catch Kallin.

Dan Loreng thinks Lange will win it. About 20s per km faster then Ditlev

Where are you getting 20sec/km? It's 10sec/km. Won't catch him if Ditlev keeps it up

I fear he is not basing his judgement on data. Lange gained 1:43 in 11km, leaving T2 14:16 behind. Ditlev has run 2:40 - Lange's PB is 2:36.
Lange is gaining an average of 5 seconds per km.
Haug is gaining about 10 seconds a km so she will catch: Langridge will not maintain the pace she's set.

The splits were showing on YT that Ditlev is running 3:50 and Lange 3:34
Not following on the Tracker

Yup agree, i think it’s his personal judgement and he would be expecting Ditlev not to keep this pace.

For me it looks like Ditlev will take it

I suggest those aberrations are because they are between different timing mats and pace accuracy then depends on correct distance measurement - hence error. Here's the tracker: https://datev-challenge-roth.r.mikatiming.de/...amp;pidp=leaderboard

Sebi is so good on the mic

Magnus’ run looks way better than even a year or so ago. The dude is an absolute weapon.

I don't expect much from the ST peanut gallery but no way Lorang would say that Patrick is on track for 1st

Ditlev's predicted finish time is close to Jan's old Roth record. Will be a huge feat if he hangs on to this pace

Away from the pointy end... anyone know whether the AG is also non-wetsuit ? I'd not picked that up in the coverage.

Well hanging on the monkey bars here (so maybe affects my hearing): that's exactly what Lorang said: that Lange would catch Ditlev. Edit: have just checked back: review Lorang's assessment when the Men's time was @5:49:24 and my data above were from 10 minutes earlier @11.7km. Other data: difference in PBs: 6 minutes.

That’s what he said, he might not have had all the details. It was still early on so it’s not like he was saying something that was out of the realm of reality. credible at that point of the race

Lange is 10 minutes down 3/4 into the run. No way he’s gaining a minute per k unless Ditlev blows up sky high.

If he runs a 2:50 he'll win. But looks as if he's heading for a course record 7:34 (ahead of Frodeno's 2016 7:35).
That time would be the fastest 'ever' over full distance (discounting current-assisted Cozumel and the 'Tribattle').
Running into a Collins Cup automatic team slot, btw.

Haug ran the first half (21.1km) in 1:22, heading for about 8:21 total.

am a big fan of fenella's - great to see her leading out. hope she starts to get a bit more coverage, though it's tough to separate yourself in the field of brit women at the moment.

Ditlev has run a 2.41 marathon at TX.

So to beat him you have to be a better runner.
If you are far behind you have to be a lot better runner.

Great race for Ditlev. He is solid.
