His Garmin records the starting point along the beachfront, which was 1.2km from T2. I’d assume he just grabbed his watch and started running before GPS was connected, or else started running without pressing the start button. And for some reason it ends along the beachfront as well, 800m from the finish line. I don’t know how to explain that, other than maybe his battery dying.

I recorded the run as 42.12 kilometres. Some of my flybys have a little bit more, some a little bit less. It might have been a tiny bit short, but nowhere even remotely close to 800m.

I used to be coached by Matt, so I’m a fanboy, but you have to acknowledge his results don’t seem to be the same as they were. I can’t tell if he’s regressed some, or if it’s simply so many people getting so much faster. Hopefully he can figure it out and turn things around, I’d think this Ironman Pro series is something he’ll look forward to doing since he races a lot anyway.
