Sure, that makes sense. No you don't have to go electronic with the tilt blocks, you keep everything the same and just insert the tilt block underneath the extension clamp. There is a third option which is to fit a higher rise extension (and if you want, some angled spacers under the arm rests for comfort), this would be similar cost to a tilt block but require recabling things.

Reviving this thread due to the NorCal cycling video recently put out on tire width. Today I tried to install 30mm wide tires on my Felt IA1. I was able to get them on the bike but just barely. The biggest issue I had was getting the tire to sit in the rim of the tire evenly. It was a little lumpy- my guess is that the tire pressure wasn’t high enough to get the tire to push out into the rim and instead of sitting taller than it should.

I tried 28s and it was a no go. There wasn’t enough space between my fork crown and the tire. If there was anything small like a pebble or larger like a rock it would have no room to be ejected and had the potential to cause major damage.

I deemed it too risky and not worth it especially considering in my case I’m already at the front of the bike leg and I’m not competing for a prize purse.

I’ve got 25s and I have run them for 2 seasons now with no issues whatsoever. I wish I could be more help but that was my conclusion. Good luck 👍

Hoping for some insights from the ST collective on this.Getting back into racing again and looking at options for my 2015 Felt IA.

WHEELS:
I know that wheels have gotten progressively wider over the years so I'm looking for tolerance/limitations on these frames. Does anybody have issues running 25mm wheels on these models? I was going to get 25mm wide w/25mm Clinchers & latex tubes (or Tubeless) for race day setup. Will I have any issues??

COCKPIT:
Alternatively, I'm curious about the cockpit setup. Are any risers available to angle the extensions up like I see on many modern bikes? Are there those extensions which wrap around the entire elbow and forearm available to us mortals yet? Speedbar I think was the name I saw on them in recent races.

FRAMESET: 2015 Felt IA 51cm(original model)

Thanks All!!

I've got a 2015 IA FRD, not sure if it's exactly the same. I run 23s to avoid clearance issues. They usually measure more than 23 anyway. 25s have fit in the past but I've felt rubbing in the rear.

And I upgraded the entire cockpit to a TriRig Alpha One because I needed that adjustability eventually, and wanted those full arm scoops. But prior to that I used AeroCoach 3d printed wedges to angle up the aero bars by about 15 degrees.

You can also get the TriRig scoops without the fill cockpit upgrade. I had that for a while.

Too old to go pro but doing it anyway

This is my updated setup that I settled on in 2021 and have been running ever since.

23mm wide wheels. Tires are 25mm both
The front end is TriRog Scoops with closed back
Aero coach pedestals to angle up
Profile design extensions with a rising angle

This has taken be from a 38-39km/h TT Speed to a 41-42km/h speed average on similar output. That’s specific to me but I’m very happy with the end results.
