Re: What do you expect from a $300 bike fit? [Pathlete] [ In reply to ]

I've done fittings 3 different ways.

1. Fitter works out of a bike shop, not a direct employee. It was decent. First time bike fit and he let me come back in after the first fit to adjust and off I went.
2. Got a retul fit by a local bike shop owner. New bike. Ran the equipment, showed data on the first visit. Limited to one more visit in 60 days. Came back and he spent total of 10 minutes and moved my seat just a little. Didn't even run the equipment.
3. Guy was recommended and he came to my house. Spent 2 hours. More info than I ever knew for fitting. He has been back 5 times as I have progressed. Drastically changed my fit and knows his stuff.

I'd recommend asking around for recommendations.
Don't assume just because they are retul certified or whatever, they CARE about the fit. Invested in clients vs getting paid makes a difference.
If they throw limits on the fit, I'd be leery. It requires fit, ride, fit, ride... etc.

I'll invest in my guy yearly to make sure I'm working the best on my ride like a tune up for my bike.

I know of a guy that arrived at the fitter with a bare frame and the rest in a big basket...
So this guy certainly expected a lot for 200...
